Marathon Running

Just wondering whether any of you blokes have ran any half marathons or full ones in the past?
I myself ran the Plymouth Half Marathon its supposed to be the second hardest in the country, and believe me i can vouch for that!!!
My mates my dad who is a boot neck and has run loads of marathons, reckons that its harder than a fair few full marathons because of all the hills involved.
The best bit is, i filled in the race entry form with the best intentions in the world regarding training. However next thing i knew race day was upon me!! so of i went with my mate who had recently passed his prmc and was beginning training in a couple of weeks time. We got there had a stretch and the race started, we were both going strong upon till the 4 mile mark and then we split up(I was breaking my neck for a piss). After my quick drainage stop i then hit a MASSIVE hill i think its 3/4 of a mile long, everybody died on it. The race then became just one big slog of dehydration, hunger and cramp
as it was a hot day and i hadn't trained which caused me to have severe cramp, when i finally got within 200m of the finish line, i attempted to sprint but due to my muscles being knackered my legs locked and i nearly collapsed on my face!!consequently at the end of the race i was absolutely bo****sed. I can say this now i have never felt so physically drained in my life, my body was crying out for nourishment
I quickly found my mate while getting a brew and he only beat my by 1 minute which i was dead chuffed with as he had run it before and passed his prmc. I eventually got in at a painfull muscle cramping 1h 59min
The best bit was i instantly thought as soon i had finished that was so painfull im never doing that again!! But one minute later when i had a brew and realized what id just achieved. I couldn't wait to do it again HOW MESSED UP IS THAT!!!
It just goes to show how damn addictive phys can be
I would recommend it to anyone its a real achievement! Unfortunately by the time the next one comes round i should be at CTC doing more suicidal phys so ill miss it, but im sure the PTIs will make up for me missing it.
Just wondered whether any of you geezers have done any marathons?
