Hello,

Has anyone served with the Commando Logistics Regiment?

And if so, what was it like? Is it interesting work?

There is a bit in the Globe and Laurel about the Commando Logistics Reg. The last dit was about their job in Op Telic. These type of things are in the G&L fairly regularly, suggest you have a gander through them. If you dont have them, I'm sure somebody with a scanner would oblige. :)

I was with Cdo Log Reg when it was based in Stonehouse Barracks. Sigs Sect. was in the Long Room (Wasn't it guys - Hellpp!!)

Wasn't there long - (6 months) and can't remember what I did???? It's old age creeping up on me :(

Logs was the worst draft in the corps until the move from Seaton-Coypool, then it got better with the location etc. I was in Med Sqn for 4 years but managed get attached to 59 for most of that which was a good escape ploy.
But North Devon is good for sports and they good facilities up there in Chivenor.
As with any draft zou get out what u put in, dont expect much graving or "proper Marine stuff" but I enjoyed it.

Came off Fearless in 79. Drafting preference's as follows:

Places I wanted to go to; 40, 42, 45,

Places to avoid at all costs; Hq and Sigs, MGRM cdo forces, CDOLOGREGTRM.

Hello Logs! Not a very nice draft as far as I was concerned. Have know idea what it's like now. Maybe it's got better.

I was in HQ and Sigs in 75 and we were in the longroom. MGRM Cdo forces sigs troop were next door. LOGS had "left the building" and were stuck in Coypool. A dump, to put it mildly.

Coypool - Hmmm! One of those road signs I saw round and about Gus, but I never knew what it was? Choppers, I thought?

Coypool

Sorry about delay in replying. Yes BAS were there as well. (copters)
Only good thing about Coypool for me was the short trip from Westfield, Plympton.

I was a fitter in the L.A.D (Light Ale Detachment) ((tpt sqn)) and life really was all pissing up. we used to take two barrels of beer on EVERY Excercise, and by day two, we were driving round the pubs for a RAS. we used to prof just about anything that wasn`t nailed down.
We used to live like Kings, especially in Norway, where Les Brookes amd myself bought a Mk1 ford escort for 2 bottles of whiskey. The fish head familly thought it was great. there were 3 generations of the family living in the house, and the old fella used to go Salmon fishing in the Fjord (situated about 300mts from our location) every day. Halsa, september deployment, we really were sick of fresh smoked salmon by the end of week 3. The guys are great, but like mentioned earlier, coypool was a shytehole.
