'Service' information

I have my RCB Briefing coming up soon, and am confident about most parts. However, one part that does worry me is the military, or service, knowledge. I know basics, such as five armed wings, divisions etc. But do not feel that I have a comprehensive knowledge of the basics of the army. As this forms a large part of the assesment, i would be grateful for any advice on books or websites that could help me in any way. Or indeed from people who have recently passed, who can pass on knowledge.

Thanks

I hate to state the obvious, but what about http://www.army.mod.uk :). In terms of books this seems to be quite difficult as they are all very specific about certain units, time periods etc; I've been unable to find a general purpose "history of the army" type affair thoguh I'm not sure anything that comprehensive would be essential. But for recent history www.britains-smallwars.com is very good.

That's why I asked; most books, are: as you say, too specific and do not give the general overview of the army i need. The history of the army is not important, its the modern army, its organisation, structure, deployment and how it works. The army website, of course, is usefull to an extent but does not provide the necessary information in a clear-cut general manner. I'll keep searching, but any info. would still be appreciated.

RCB is what every officer must pass before entering Sandhurst. It's split into two parts: The Briefing and the main board.

I'm hopefully passing mine prior to going to university so that i can get money while i'm there.

Jacko wrote a pretty good outline on what RCB is about:
