Alright chaps,

I have an interview on 17th July with an Lt. Col, here at my house, about gaining a commission in the Army, hopefully the Parachute Regt. to be precise. As the letter reads, "it will be an informal interview, lasting around 40 minutes". Has anyone ever done one of these before? What sort of thing is he trying to find out from you?

Well I've had an Interview lasting a bit longer but not at my house.

Just make sure you got some fresh cofee beans or some Posh tea.

That will soon win them over.

The last interview I had with an officer was with a police officer :agrue:

Had a couple while at university. Its nothing too formal but make sure you swot up on your world affairs. tune in to radio 4 every morning and listen to the Today Programme (its what they do).
Whatever you do don't try and waffle your way out of anything as he will see right through you
Also show him that you have a good well rounded personality as they don't want people that are completly army barmy.
Highlight your strenghts when talking to him by citing past achievements i.e School Filed Trips, Sport Clubs and Hobbies.

And most importantly of all: RELAX

Good Luck

I'd recommend Cigars and Brandy

Brandy must be Remy Martin or Courvoisier - No Kwik Save sh*t
Cigars must be Cuban - Anything recommended by Fidel Castro will suffice ;)

Make sure you know what the position you are applying for actually does.

IE for the infantry, don't be all peacekeeping and fighting fires, your there to close with and destroy the enemy! should be damned proud of it too.
