Hello all, well, I`ve just got back from a west midlands hospital, where the Lads from 40 Commando were being treated. There is only one of the lads left in hospital, the other two have been discharged, but come in daily for dressings. I`ll mention no names, as the press have been sniffing round, even posing as MP`s. But, fortunately for our guy, one of the nurses is a former army QA. and showed him the door, good on her. She may hopefully be joining our ranks on this forum.
I left a card, from this forum, and the civvie-street forum, obviously i couldn`t remember all the names, but a few have been mentioned, and for the ladies, that you are bootneck wives.

The guy was well chuffed, and is bearing up, he is in quite a considerable amount of pain, but when asked if he wanted anything else bringing in, his reply, "SOME GUINNESS". cracking. He has also had his first meal today, which according to the nursing staff is great

I took the liberty of having a fruit basket made up from all on the forums, god knows what was in it, but it weighed a ton,and its a good job he likes fruit.

some of the rear party have visited him, as well as his parents, and other family and friends. His hero visits this weekend apparently, I`ll not mention his name, but he is a member of the site, and was a great influence on his joining the Corps.

Looking ahead, he says he will be doing his juniors next year, (thats the spirit) I`ve also left him my contact numbers, in case he has any needs,as its closer and quicker for me to get there, than his family and friends.

Thanks to flo, for getting me the relevent numbers.

I have a picture of the said fruit bowl, so i`ll send it by e-mail to jay, and he can put it on if he wishes.

lets hope he makes a full recovery, and completes his juniors, TOP MAN

Thanks for that Bootneck, excellent, and it's the other side to all this that many people forget about.

It's not true about 'Million Dollar' wounds, but I'll bet he's glad to be home.

i`ll keep you all informed, but this wasn`t about me, its about one of US, never really been one for the lime light, pat on the back and all that, just keep my head down and get on with the job. Completely baffeled nurse though, well, i took some limers in, whats limers? asked nurse, whats nutty? whats a goffer? what planet are you two off? quite funny really, but the main aim was to lift his spirits, and i think we achieved that, didn`t really go in with the sympathy vote, although deep down, he did get it,but taking the piss and bootneck sarcasm works everytime. I started enquiries last week, when Chilwell Bomb squad, (via a friend) informed me there were three booty`s coming home, i had intended there to be three fruit baskets, but was informed two had gone home, good news really.

well all i can say is watch this space,
cheers all :drinking:

ps, I`ve got the ball rolling to get him some guinness

Next time you see him please tell him how impressed my youngest brother was at the way Royal operated out in Iraq, he said "I don't know how they can be so effective at FIBUA; that bloody drum and bugle must get in the way!"
His nuts will retract when next we meet.

Good effort bookneck... with the size of that basket his bowels will be in good working order. Let's hope for a speedy and full recovery. You could always leave the Guiness at home and tell him he has to come and get it... that would be a good incentive to get him up and about! Youu know Royal, never one to turn down up homers :D
LOOSE THREE STONE!
She's gonna have your genitals on a plate for this!!
