I think our National Anthem is one of the worst around, why does such a great country have such a poor anthem?

look at the Ruskies
http://www.funet.fi/pub/culture/russian ... ovnat1.wav

This is a great piece of music, why should we be subjected to such crap?

I expect flames from this thread but I'm drunk so don't care :drinking:

Here you are Dan, have a bash at the Welsh one.... :lol:

Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn anwyl i mi,
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri;
Ei gwrol rhyfelwyr, gwlad garwyr tra mad,
Tros ryddid collasant eu gwaed.

Chorus:
Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad,
Tra mor yn fur
I'r bur hoff bau,
O bydded i'r heniaith barhau.

Hen Gymru fynyddig, paradwys y bardd,
Pob dyffryn, pob clogwyn, i'm golwg sydd hardd;
Trwy deimlad gwladgarol, mor swynol yw si
Ei nentydd, afonydd, i mi.

Chorus:
Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad,
Tra mor yn fur
I'r bur hoff bau,
O bydded i'r heniaith barhau

Os treisiodd y gelyn fy ngwlad dan ei droed,
Mae hen iaith y Cymry mor fyw ag erioed,
Ni luddiwyd yr awen gan erchyll law brad,
Na thelyn berseiniol fy ngwlad

The British national anthem is explained thus: http://www.royal.gov.uk/output/Page317.asp

And the tune is on here, http://www.thenationalanthems.com/country/unkingdom.htm , to get it click on the flag. Granted it does sound like the theme tune to a bizarre tellytubby mutation and the choice of instruments does give it the elegance of a spontaniously combusting goat, but you get the idea and I certainly couldn't be bothered to find a better version :).

As I would say to anyone that moans about anything English / British unnecessarily

If you don't like it..... leave the country (Probably what I'll do eventually after the immigrants move into number 10 and start running things)

Did see in a poll a couple of years back that most Britons would prefer 'Land of Hope and Glory' as the National Anthem

That would be a bit drastic.

I think our anthem is okay, but I must admit that French have a good one,

I be happier with Land of Hope and Glory. Failing that I'd settle for Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.
Some people are either easily pleased or they just couldn't give a fcuk.
