I am tracing the Service Record of Frederick William Blevins, born 9 Oct 1898, who served in the RNAS from 9th June 1917 until 10th March 1918.
The documents I have received show his Rating as Act AMI(E).
Can anyone tell me what this is?

Just had a word with the brat. It's not current, but she reckons it may be Air Mechanic Instruments (Electrical).

Our revered Prez sounds about right Derek. I remember having a history lesson by a crusty old WAFU at Yeovil once and he told me all the old rating branches. To get the pukka gen, why not try the FAA Museum.

Thanks, why didn't I think of that? Doh.
I've E-Mailed them, with an attached photo of him in uniform, so hopefully they can help.

Sometimes the answer is in front of your face, but is too close to see. Good luck.
