THE SON OF A ROYAL MARINE

I though i would share with you a poem written by my 12 year old son Robbie. I have to admit i cried when i read it.

I lie here alone, wondering in my bed,
Will things change when this dictator is dead?
More so I wonder for selfish reasons,
If my dad did not fight would he be tried for treason?
The problem I have is his oath to the Queen,
You see I'm the son of a Royal Marine.

My mum sits and cries when she watches the news,
She had to give up her job, and can't afford new shoes.
You see it's not just the Iraqi's that suffer.
Just look at the despair on my poor lonely mother.

My sisters are youn, and are always crying,
There too youn to realise people are suffering and dying.
My dad's NOT a monster; he's a good man at heart,
But it's tearing our loyalties and this family apart.

People shout out NO WAR, do you think that we want it?
I'd rather have my dad home, but I know Icant have it.
War is messy; war is bad but at least those who are shouting
go home to there dad's. I dont , but i dont see green.
You see I'm the proud son of a Royal Marine.

Flo, when you have finished hugging him, and crushing the air out of him give him a slap around the head, and tell him that's from 'Royal'. Well done Robbie.

Flo, it's a bit dusty in my computer room hence the slight watering of my eye! His dad should be as proud of him as he is of his dad. A safe return for one and all.

Very nice indeed.
You should all be proud, congratulations Robbie.
Flo, as bootneck has already stated, would be nice if this was read out on GMTV.
Do you have a time slot, so we can all tune in to show support?

I'm just a silly old SOB because I had to have a few goes at reading the poem before I reached the end. Well done Robbie; I hope it isn't too long before you have your Dad back home with you.
