Hey,

I'm sure this has been debated many a time but im just wondering which branch of the armed forces people think would be the best to join.

Please factual reasons only - like proveable ones. Not just an opinion slagging match.

Mate only you know what you want to join, no one can tell you which is best its what you think is best. By looking at your name you look like swaying to the RM side??

at the moment yeah. Im not totally sure though so was looking for some other opinions so i can make an informed decision.

Ah so its just some information you want. Just to narrow it down alot what are you specifically looking for Infantry, armoured or something like Intelligence/signaller or allong those lines?

yeah Infantry - thinking about it that, pretty much, rules out RAF and Navy.

The Parachute Regiment http://www.army.mod.uk/infantry/regiments/3471.aspx They have a new website being made at the minute.

Your local Infantry regiment depends on were you live and any other infantry regiments without recruitig boundrys.

Best thing to do is nip down to your local ACIO (Army Careers Information Office) and have a chat with someone there are they have all the info and could help you make a proper choise.

How can we answer your question when you can't explain just what you want from a career in the forces. You do every thing from being almost a full time cleaner to to flying the latest jet aircraft. You have such a wide range of tasks available so with the statement that you made no one can answer your question.

There's no such thing as 'better'!

There is a such thing as better. I'd say join your Marines or the Royal Navy as a Medic and try to get stationed with the Marines as an infantry medic.

There is a difference. The experience and pride a clerk feels is different than a battle tested SEAL or SAS soldier.

A cook and a RM Commando. Hell you can read the difference right here on this board.

Join the Marines son you won't regret it and as you grow older you'll be in a very small proud fraternity.

There is no such thing as better - it all depends on the person joining up!
Somebody might absolutely love being a cook and be fantastic at it, but would be rubbish as a pilot and hate it.

Every single person in the military is as important as each other, just in a different way. I certainly wouldn't like trying to do my job without all the support staff behind me!

Hyperlite I always liked you so don't take it personal. But there is a difference and if you never lived it you wouldn't know.

There was a difference between Corpsmen on ships and Corpsmen with the Fleet Marine Force.

Had to do security in 1959(London) for Brig Gen. (The Brute) Krulak who retired as a Lt.Gen. His son became the Commandant Gen. USMC.
First time I ever looked down on a Gen. He was just on 5'4" and delivered his lecture from a box behind the lectern.
I made RM minimum heigt requirement of 5'6" + as a recruit.
I joined the Colonial Police at their exact minimum requirement of 5'7".
