You have to run 2.6 km in 12 minutes. So basically that's running at 12kmh for 12 straight minutes. Don't make the same mistake as me - I attended my fitness test cockey without any training. Of course when I returned 3 weeks later I prepared for it and passed no problem. The time frame should be about 3-4 months but check with your afco as dates may vary. This does NOT mean to stop training - you will need to be fit when you go in.

Hi Peter
Well, for me it has been quite quick!!! I made my initial enquiry to join the RAF about 2 weeks ago, I did my fitness test last Friday and received my dates for Pre RTC and RTC yesterday! I am joining as Pers Admin and have a pre RTC date of 25th Sept and provisional RTC date of 12th November - think every trade is different though as mine is urgently required at the moment - they also have to pair up your RTC with your trade training afterwards. - Hope that helps and good luck!

im applying for WSOp so have to do things differently with going to cranwell and stuff but its taken me approx 6 months from going into the AFCO to the final stage at the officers and aircrew selection centre in september!

u shouldn't have to wait to long once you've done your fitness test to hear from your afco hopefully giving you a start date for Halton!

Hate to tell you Stig mate, that's not the final stage...
You'll have to go back to Cranwell if you pass OASC and do an Aircrew Medical!

Can it bushyboy, you're a twonk.

Stig, yes you will do a medical at OASC, but there's a more in-depth one that you'll do a couple of weeks (ish) later if you're successful.
Fitness test is also at OASC, would guess the swimming is too, but that's been brought in since I went through, so not 100% on that.
