aup mate, welcome to the forum, are you thinking of goin army or RM???i think for the PJFT you have to do the 2.4k run in under 10.30, the hard part is PRMC, a year is plenty of time to get fit, just keep running, and do press ups,sit ups and pull ups let us know what you decide mate

Dont bother using the Army to get you fit, they will just teach you all sorts of bad habits

...get down to the recruiting office and look at the RM side of life, also check out the numerous other threads on here about joining the Corps, fitness and roles etc etc..

uright . forget army. your asking a royal question. i think nowadays its 1130 for line infantry. 1.5mile in 9min 50??? thats pants. if your wanting elite status to get braggin rights with your m8s down the pub you want 830 or below for that. as a gen guess if your fitness is good enough to achieve that you will find course easier. cant speak for course your wanting to do but iv done p coy. and by all means it aint easy so id imagine rm is as tough . just train to get ur 1.5 down to that time and sort ur head out and u should be fine. post a message if u pass................................................

roger your last fodd....had to get the batco wallet out for that last one!!
9:50 is a pass, if you pass your good enough, its not all in the body a lot, if not most of it is in the head. If you've got it you'll pass....

sorry mate, pjft is Pre-Joining Fitness Test, its just a 1.5 mile on a treadmill, you take it before you attend PRMC

the pjft time has gone down to 10 mins now but i found it better to do 3 mile runs because it gets u ready for your prmc an ur mile an a half will jus get faster as you do that.

Just because this comes up so many times...
Yes lads, it's a recruitment process. The PJFT is just to weed out the real wasters from the maybe wasters and the few who may stand a chance. You run an annual BFT once you're in, which is 1.5 squadded pretty slow followed by 1.5 best effort (plus some pull ups and sit ups). In my experience, most lads crack sub-9, even the fat bastards (believe it or not, you do get them knocking about

). That's in boots on road. And most lads pass it off as the most pointless test in the history of man, generally turning up still half-shot from the night before
Not to piss on anybody's bonfire; as I said it's only the first step in the recruitment chain, and at that stage it seems like the world depends on it. But lighten up, run a bit, you'll get there quick enough, and look forward to the real tests to come. Stick the treadmill on 16kph/10mph (which is the max on many) and just don't fall off
