When I join,if I join, I am going to join the RAF Regiment, is it good? What sort of duties do you perform e.g do you man security check points leading in and out of bases? Do you provide security for Officers? What are your duties to be exact.

From what Ive seen of RAF Reg in Afghan and Iraq there main dutie was Force Protection of Camp Bastion and the COB in Iraq. Thats because these are also RAF bases. Didnt see much of them out on OPs but then dont take my word for it. Get down to your local AFCO and ask the RAF bloke down there.
They always seem nice decent chilled out blokes so cant ask better than that.

Wrong. I often visit my careers advisor, up to the point that he recognises my voice through the intercom now.

You could go on and play with the SFSG lad's, not sure how difficult it is to get there from the RAF though.

f@#k I don't even know if they do any interesting stuff anyway....ignore me that would be for the best, I'll grab me coat.
Go for it..

Unless your a an ex or serving Rockape (RAF Regiment gunner) how would you know what they do?
The basic training is intense and let not talk about the final exercise "Omega" ..he he!...the drop out rate is high..mine was 11 + 2 back squaders out of 43!
As for Op's...rockapes have had their fair share...I seem to remember the Army only having to do 4-6 month tours of Northern Ireland (Pre cease fire)...3 Squadron do a min of 3 years!

RAF Regt is referred to as 'the Regiment' within RAF circles, and seeing as this is an RAF thread IMO is justified.
