Denmark are considering buying this baby. What about replacing your platoons 51mm mortar with one of these... :P

I mentioned the M32 MGL a while back as a possible replacement for the current UGL in this thread here viewtopic.php?t=14694&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30, but with their limited range I don't see them replacing the 51mm light mortar quite yet, even though that was the initial plan with the 40mm.

I really like the look of them though and am glad its being snapped up for use by the USMC.

MEI's Mercury HEDP round has a range of 800 metres, just like the 51mm.
And 6 rounds in two seconds is like a mini artillery-battery.. :P

Well, when i'm not out on Thyra in the North-sea, i'm trying to spend some time in HVK Rebild. But i most confess that it's not that much anymore. :-? But it gives a chance for maintaining some of the skills i learn in the regulars, shooting mainly.. :D

 yeps, the GMG is a nice tool, but in a slightly different weight-class.

BTW. Denmark are also buying some H&K GMG that will be fitted to our new Bofors Lemur stabilised OHWS along with M2 QCB.

The new LEMUR sight installed on a Eagle IV patrol-vehicle.

Will also be installed on Piranha IIIC and M113G3+.

SF maybe. I doubt the army would trust regular troops with that. :o

'Cos it's a different type of weapon, it's not an indirect fire weapon. The 51 was our only form of counter-mortar fire when we were at Musa Qaleh. We leant a couple to your guys when we left actually.

Well, i would call it a bit of both due too the fly-time of those grenades.

Yep, pretty stupid that our first team down there didn't bring their own mortars. There are some new 60mm with the troops now, fortunely. :)
