Well suppose some people who flipping burgers for a living will think they are better of than people that are in the navy.

The Navy - well it's like any job. There are good days and bad days.

I don't regret doing my time, however, I wouldn't go back.

I travelled the world, I learned a trade, I left.

Simple.

Probably better now for kids just out of school with no idea what they are letting themselves in for. The older recruits who have had a life previously will regret it.

I've just joined the Royal Navy and im loving it. Just about to start week 4 and I cant wait to pass out.

The only bad thing is that I cant see my kids until after i finish my training.

I would recommend RN to anyone, its a secure career, you get a pension and you see the world.

You wait until you're out in the fleet, on a 9 month deployment, come home and get pinged for leave duties, get 2 weeks off then go into some silly reason for a dost, 3 months later deployed again.

As a single person, the RN is a good life but when you have a family, it can be a toll sometimes.

But it is a good life, good career and you get to travel the world for free!

Been in the navy for 4.5 years now and i am currently on my Leading hands qualifying course at HMS Collingwood.

Recommend it for anyone but please understand you will have bad days. Then on the other hand there's nothing better than screaming a PAC 24 round the Tioman Islands and then stopping off for a beer before weighing anchor an heading to Singapore for your 3rd stop ;)

But like i said bad days do come round from time to time...

Morning all, this is my first post.

I served in the RN for 5 years, I have some great memories and i do not regret joining at all but it is sometimes really stupid like cleaning for the sake of cleaning, if i had a £1 for every time i was told just get a cloth and look busy.

If you are single it is a great life but I don't understand why people would want to do 22 years away from your family what's the point, i am now a receptionist in my home town on more money, can book holidays whenever i want and i get to see my family every night and every weekend now that's better than any run ashore even campo allegro (Curacao) :shocked!:
