Well I would think at during the current troubles you would be spending a fair amount every day flying in one combat zone or other

as a 2lt/lt you are ment to get alot of flying, i think the pilot course is 12-15 months with a few more months to convert onto a specific aircraft.

when appointed as a SO3(capt) your flying time will usually decrease dependant on the job you get. i spoke to the recruiting staff and their captain got to fly a fair bit to goto different recruitment drives

If you want to be a pilot as an officer, you will be fighting about 100 other Officer Cadets at Sandhurst who want it as well. AAC is without a doubt the most requested Regt/Corps at RMAS. They take about 4 or 5 per intake and these are the best cadets there.

If you want to be a pilot as a ranker, then you've got to get to full-screw before you can fly. You can also get to fly on secondment from another Regt/Corps but not until you get to Full-Screw either.

Hope that helps.

Agree with Picadilly Cowboy completely, getting into the AAC from Sandhurst is not easy. You need to pass flying grading during your leave and you'll need to be in the top third of the course, which is by no means the top 33 percent. Its very subjective.
