G'day!

I used to come on here a few years back. I was planning on the Marines but i ended up going into the Met police.

Anywho, last May i was in a horrendous motorbike accident and ended up losing my spleen. The police are debating whtehr to let me go on 'medical grounds.'

My question is: Does losing my spleen prevent me from signing upto the armed forces? Due to the loss, im on penicillin for life- would this be a problem or not? :-?

Ta! 8)

Righto.

I thought it might. There's no major reason for the police to fire me, but if they did, the AF was another of my options- although now- it isn't. 8)

Ta for your help!

Call the AFCO to make 100% sure, but I would say it will bar you from entry.

Theres always the CP route, but the dodgy bit is the fact you have to remain on meds because of your risk of infection minus the spleen.

Hope it works out for you and good to see you back on the forums

Cheers.

I'm using this as a sort of 'fall back' plan just in case. I got all my marines application stuff and the army careers dvd and pack- although ironically, i got these a week before the accident!

I'll ring up and check anyway- it's always worth knowing! :P
