Forum Demise

Seems that this forum is on it's last legs. Very few of the originals bothering to post, no new blood coming in, it's dying folks. I suppose it is inevitable, there are only so many stories that can be told in such a long period of time, without repeats, and then it becomes a bore. Great pity though, it's been fun.

The magic has not gone.It's up to people like us to keep this alive.

Hey you people ... every place has ebbs and flows. I haven't been in here much lately, and I'm not even a bonafide military type either, and am a Canadian to boot ... but hey, don't be a pessimist because things are quiet?

Start a conversation that people can't resist jumping in on?

I found my way here via a PTSD search ... and come back every so often because of the people and conversations, though I don't often post. I just don't know enough of the life and lifestyle to be very much a part of conversations here. I'm not part of the clique Occassionally I post looking for info about something or another. Geneology, or trying to identify something/someone connected to Military service.

Or ... for something special, like today ... it's my birthday APRIL 11! I turn 51 today ... whoopy-ding-ringa-ding-ding. I've the body of an 81 year old I think ... arthritis and such ... could never shoot anyone, justified or otherwise (dammit) though there was a time I was a pretty good shot. Before Arthur-itis cramped my style.

Hey you folks over that side of the big water ... have a for me today, will ya?

This place is great ... many amazing people in here. A good community ...

'Owdun' and myself go back a long long way back to the times when we swore allegiance to 'King George V1', this forum has brought back many distant memories of the past,resurrected many happy memories of friends long since 'crossed the bar' I often trawl back through the past postings and have a damm good laugh at the fortunes and misfortunes of the Military Forums members.
All that is required is a kick start,some outlandish escapade,Tales from the mess deck,and of course the output from our 'colonial' bretheren.
It is a source of infomation for us old 'bootnecks' to keep up to date with the Corps.
Once again trawling back on the 'Royals' forum its great to see that some of the youngsters have joined the family and achieved the Green Beret status.

So all you lot out there with the aspirations and the stories of a sea going Marine wipe the cobwebs away and lets have a stroll into the past,and you lot still serving,keep us up to date.Cheers all.Aye jr

Hello everyone.
Although posts may have declined a bit recently, I think this forum still means a lot to a lot of people.
I think it would be good to hear more tales from you oldies of your time in training, and what you thought of it when you first joined up and had no military experience and it was new to you like it is to me. If that makes any sense.
Anyway, I would love the oppertunity to meet up with some of you and buy you an over priced beer.

I think you will find that every year round about this
time there is always a slump in the forum, I dont
know why but it just happens,

I have not been on much I must admit, but that is
because of medical reason,s
I only have to sit in front of the screen and I am
dosing off, but I am always in the background.

Shook some of you b'stards awake, did this thread. Seriously though, as Jim said, it will be a great pity if the forum dies from apathy. It's been a great source of info. for the young tyro's, and kept us old un's in the picture with regard to the present day Corps.

JR... remember when we were on the Vicky Ship and the mess was up fward, The TV in the mess was always on. The highlight of the day was the bet on which window they went through in Play School, Square Round or Arched....

The times we used to wait for camera crew to get down real low so that we could get a flash Fuella Benjemine's knicks!! and to think we used to get paid for that

The dreaded bell to call the next Guide out especially after your tot and you'd fallen asleep in the easy chairs.... Some bugger had sewn the end of your selves up so that in the mad dash to get out the mess you looked like a bloody penguin....... many the time I'd woken up to find My Boots nailed to the deck head

Frank, I think reports of the demise are a wee bit premature. I have felt that, after five thousand odd posts, it was getting a tad jaded, so I gave meself a make and mend and I`m enjoying the forum more as a result. It will never remain the same, it will always evolve and Members will come and go. Some great characters in the past, for sure, but I`m certain there will be more in the future. One big plus with the subs forum, is that I can now read every post again, just like it was before the nobbers arrived

Heyup Jim and John Diggy, we`ll be throwing a bucket of water over you two if you carry on Enjoy yerselves lads, at the September do. I`d love to make that lamp-swinging sesh but I`ll probably have to go down the beach I`m sick of all them women in bikinis and if I never see another bloody perfect blue sky, it`ll be too soon. Roll on climate change I say, and then we can get a drop of decent snow down here. Bastards

Its true that the forum isn’t what it was a couple of years ago but it still seems to draw everyone here almost daily.

It seems that the grammatical battle has been lost on the community side with text speak being used again and tossers posting crap all the time but it is also the school Easter holidays so there will be more of that.

Also you guys cant all bugger off yet as I’ve still got about 7 months subs membership left and I likes reading artists mishaps and JRs stories of times gone by.

a statement, that at least two thirds of hip replacements
and joint replacements are done on ex marines
and parra's, in fact most people who have led a
ful active life.

So like I have said Enjoy it while you can.

as for the pins they are working great, especially
the rub down after, there is this young assistant who ....

I will leave that one open, why do you think I sleep so much.
