Pheww, Well done JR!
Thank God we're back to normal!
For a moment there I thought we were on the slide to respectability and intelligent input!

I've been away for 7 weeks, dontcha know. It's the sun! Well, to be honest, at £3.50 a litre of vodka, £4.50 a litre of Grants etc.... it's probably down to the booze.
Another 50,000,000 brain cells destroyed!

" Oh beautifull bridge o`er the sparkling river Tay,
Wot fell into the stream t`other day
If we`d`ve spent more cash
`Stead`ve trying t`be flash
The bastard`d wid still be standing here, today"

Beautiful Railway Bridge of the Silv'ry Tay!
Alas, I am very sorry to say
That ninety lives have been taken away
On the last Sabbath day of 1879,
Which will be remember'd for a very long time.
[The Tay Bridge Disaster]
Let's all go mad eh.
Aye Owdun.

"THE PRESS GANG"
Here`s the tender coming
Pressing all the men
O, Dear honey
What shall we do then?
Here`s the tender coming
Off at shields bar
Here`s the tender coming
Full of men of war
Here`s the tender coming
Stealing of my dear
O, dear honey
They`ll ship you out of here
They`ll ship you foreign
For that is what it means
Here`s the tender coming
Full of Red Marines
Maybe fond memories for a few other of the more senior members of the forum.

Since there's some poetry going around...
---
We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
Leaning together
Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rats' feet over broken glass
In our dry cellar
Shape without form, shade without colour,
Paralysed force, gesture without motion;
Those who have crossed
With direct eyes, to death's other Kingdom
Remember us -- if at all -- not as lost
Violent souls, but only
As the hollow men
The stuffed men.
T.S Eliot, 1925

....And here's my offering - penned shortly after my husband was blown up (S'ok - he's made of the toughest of stuffs and was on the mend in weeks) and lost a few good blokes in N.I. a few years back:
Natural wastage
It’s your morbid ambition to shoot someone dead,
Render them lifeless, a hole in the head.
But no justification for this kind of slaughter,
It’s the job of a “PARA” – making lives shorter.
So load up your weapon, take aim and fast,
Savour this murder, the moment wont last.
Now go for the trigger, your target’s in sight,
This one’s for the lads that we lost in the fight.
So go ahead soldier, make your day,
Take him out,
Waste him,
Blow the bastard away.

There was a young woman called Bright
Who could travel much faster than light
She left home one day in a relative way
And cam home the previous night.
Kat are you still annoyed with me or have I got the wrong Kat?
