So i am also thinking about signing up but before i go up for first interview i want to be clear on the physical requirements at ADSC. Is it the 1.5 mile run, the jerry can walk and power bag lift? No more push ups or pull ups?

From what ive seen you have a PT session the night before which you have to do pull ups and sit ups then the next day its the 1.5 mile run and jerry can walk i think

You shouldn't be asked to do Pull Ups, although that's really up to the PT Instructor, from my experience at ADSC, I done the PT session which was circuit training, involved allot of running about, press ups and things of that nature, afterwards it was the Jerry Can Carry and then the Power Bags, the next day, was Grenade Test, Team Tasks and then 1.5mile run, between all of that we done TST and Memory Testing.

PT was about 45 mins long from memory, ours was a good warm up, jogging round going through the gears etc. turning, high knees and the usual. Then the rest was really team and competition focused which was a surprised because I was expecting circuits. Sprint to the end, do press ups, sprint back kind of thing. Jumping over and crawling under teammates to get to the end. One where we all linked arms ina circle around the PT instructor and had to keep the shape while he ran round the room. We finished by putting our bibs in our shorts and had to grab them out the back, last man standing kind of thing. Might've been different because it was a female ADSC but also depends on where you have it. Loved it though, it flew by.

I felt great once I knew I'd passed with a high B, that's all I can do now, just a waiting game. PT and team tasks were my highlights.

I was originally going for RE but messed up the power bag, I'm only little and the shelf was up to my nose lol. Now thinking about going REME as an armourer.

I also got a High B, in my opinion it's better than an A because you have more time getting things sorted rather than passing ADSC and only having a few weeks to get your kit and everything else in check.

The PT for Males seems a little different then, there wasn't any Team based activities or the Bib game your talking about (although I have played that in College good fun), the PT from my experience was just grooling circuit training which left me wanting to die haha, but I wasn't as in shape as I am now, so that probebly played a big part of it.

The selection system is apparently changing soon I was told, might not have power bags in future ADSC's, I think it's unfair on smaller people, but they have there reasons for the tests I suppose.

Yes of-course, they're only cheep, and running in anything else risks injury not to mention running in actual running shoes is so much more comfortable.

I'd get some running shoes if I were you. If anything it makes long runs much more comfortable! I definitely enjoy my running more now I've got some.

I didn't feel the need to splash out too much either, mine were £25 in JJB sale. Just anything that will support your feet at this stage is better than nothing. Plus I took mine to ADSC and they do get wrecked!

I plan on getting a better pair for when I ramp my training up for Phase 1 though, most sports stores will give you advice on the right ones for your feet and let you test them on a treamill.

That's good news m8, I feel the same, so happy that I don't have to work in a dead end job anymore.

hey guys, thought i'd join in on the experience. i've been thinking of joining up a while now and a couple of weeks ago got around to sending off my online application. today i had the confermation of receipt :) just waiting on a call now for my first interview :) been doing fitness for a while, generally 4 mile runs, i live in the country so half is downhill and the return leg up hill, which is abit of a killer but got my time down to 30 minutes tonight which i'm quite happy with :) target is a 6 minute mile for the whole thing, a little way off but its a target :) anyway thought i'd join in, hoping to join the reme as a vehicle mechanic, it is my current job so should be fairly easy :) love the job just want something with abit more challenge and excitement :)
