I personally enjoy anything military and for people to say they don't like them baffles me. I'd much rather watch this than Eastenders or any other pile of b*llocks on at around that time....What is your reason for not liking them? (not that I care). But it just seems a bit weird to say you don't like those kind of programmes when I wish there's more of them. And if you don't like them, why watch them then complain about them? F*cking weird...I could watch stuff like that all day long..

The thing is Jackal, many of us don't want to watch the film 'cos we have seen, or been in the play so to speak. Actually blagged that response of Sid, unit postie in 40 cdo, 1968-71 who gave a similar response when asked if he was going to see the film The Longest Day. Sid had been a young LC rate at the Normandy beaches.

Oh right your using a metaphore (or analogy...what ever). I see what you mean Bazza I'm looking at this from the other side of the fence...A few of you out there have been there done that and wathcing it's like sleeping with your wife after 10 years of marriage.

Jackal i'm the same, I like watching anything military more so when is military history. Some times the programmes are a bit weak but most of the time they are well made programmes.

I enjoy most of the military programs, but it worries me when I see them turn into a big brother SAS type thing I'm starting to think people will join the armed forces because of a fad. As long as they're well made like Jason said and they don't over dramatize with terrible B-movie music and other gimicks then I have nothing against them.

haha btw he fails this week appently according to severeal national news programmes...he claims SOS during a -46 degree snowstorm as he has no energy or time to dig a shelter and is close to dying...4miles from the first objective.....the hunter troop stops well before Ryan though has he covers bearly any distance in driving snow. What i saw looked extremly impressive even if he did fail!
Cheers, davo
O..spoil it? sorry

Good program but it needs more information on survival techniques. Its something ive always been interested in,ray mears has it spot on. One thing i couldnt help think is how likely are you to be undetected with a camera crew with you occasionaly. Of course if it were a real world situation there would be more than 4 people hunting and if they spotted him riding to a chopper there going to shoot him. Dispite that its a good program and ill be watching next week.

I'm with Cronkilla. There could have been a bit more detail on the specific techniques involved but still - they've definitely earned their money - I wouldn't wanna be out in Siberia at -28 degrees if I could help it.
Actually, of the three programs that have been on recently this certainly isn't the worst. I'd say channel 4's historical effort just gets the top spot but I reckon this comes close. In any case it's a lot better than the alternatives on a Thursday night at 9pm.
Thinking about the whole camera crew thing - with the whole operation being overseen from a central location I don't think it would be too difficult to do the filming undetected - you just call the hunter force off for a while then let 'em loose when your done. It might explain the slow progress he made in this, and the first, episode...

Ok, I don’t normally like to comment on these types of things as I have very little knowledge on the subject, BUT it was a pile of horseshit, ok he nearly died, which made for interesting viewing, but what’s the point of the hunter force being told where he is??? Why when in the town even though he mentioned that they stuck out like a sore thumb wearing European style clothes didn’t they take clothes along that the locals were wearing, why did they still walk around the town like a military patrol??? Why not just shoot him when they see him??? Instead of chase him so he can get away??? I’m sure they’re all capable of making that shot!!!
Ohh and one for the Americans on the forum, why do people keep comparing the navy seals the SAS, I thought they did completely different things??? Can you help me out with this please???

better than last week, albeit it was a bit mean telling the "hunter" force where he was, it made it a wee bit more interesting.

Lew,
I would compare SEALs to SBS personally.
US Navy SEALs were raised through UDT after WW2.
Someones going to correct me on this,I can feel it.
Wholley.
