We were never asked to take the oath, and we would have done any thing to get thrown out of the army

tobj........We were never asked to take the oath as they knew what answer would be. I did not volunteer but was called up, and all those that were called up were so pissed off about we would do any thing to upset the powers to be. Now they could throw us in Guard room but with so many in there it would be to crowded so they let it pass, they could hardly stop our wages as we were only on half a regulars pay any way, and this was part of their plan to try and get us to sign on.

oath ?

Takes 5 mins mate.

It's not hard.

Just stand up with the bible in you're right hand and say the allegiance.

And if you have been given you're army number before attending, make sure you know it off by heart. :)

Just done my Oath again for the second time in my life.
Bit different this time though, last time it was just me and an officer, this time about 10 other lads were there too.
and i was the only Agnostic one there so they all did there Oath together while i got to stand up on my own and do mine lol.
Also no contract to sign this time, have to do that at training regiment now. :)

Hi all. Sorry to open another old post. I've got my oath on the 4th of January. I'm aware it only takes 5 minutes, in and out kinda thing (that's what she said) but my Dad is asking if he can come along. He's ex Army and he's taking a real interest in my joining up, which is a good thing. I'm not sure if parents are allowed to this and my AFCO isnt open again until i sign. Anyone know?

The AFCO willo encourage parents to go along, its a big moment in your life. Dont plan on taking the whole family just Mum and Dad should be enough
