My apologies in advance for participating in a thread that has nothing to do with me.

With regards to lacing boots; I have seen many different ways over the years (although the examples shown in the pics are a first for me). A simple solution is to use the 'Obi w@#k guide to lacing boots'. In a nutshell use the method that best suits you, the type of boot and environment.

For example, I would lace my jungle boots differently to my ski march boots.

I have used the the Boot Zipper inserts 'over the water' on OPs and found them useful then. I didn't particularlty rate them when 'yomping'.

I never used laces in my boots as I preferred reinforcing rods because I was hard.

Thinking about laces and boots I am sure I remember that if you were posted to Londonderry/NI for two years you were issued with a pair of NI patrol boots, very light for all the road work etc?
I had a pair for years and to be fair they were not half bad.
