Right guys, route is now layed out - Recce of the route will be on the 26th and 27th of March, the actual walk spanning the 6th, 7th and 8th of April.
Planner
- First Day : We'll be walking pretty heavily across the peaks to arrive at our first base camp, which is in a wooded area, this be our stop for the night. We may possibly do some night nav, or just fart around the fire and see who gets their arse burnt.
- Second Day : We'll be starting with a bit of bushcraft and some survival fishing then a long scenic walk across to base camp two. Evening of playing Twister and trapping some hot essex birds (I wish)
- Third Day : Camp clearup and then a walk back to our starting point, possible pub visit if everyones up for it and then off home to soak our feet.
Personal Equipment you'll need to bring.
- Food and water to last from Friday morning, until Sunday afternoon.
- Lots of spare socks
- 3 or 4 of sets of clothes, bare in mind its going to be cold and we're going to be going through marshland so winter clothing preferably.
- Durable Boots that'll keep your feet in good nick. Good idea to bring a pair of trainers for when your boots are wet.
- One bog roll
- Toothbrush, Paste
- Sleeping Bag
- Sleeping Quarters (some form of tent, basha, bivvy - there will be limited room for those who cant bring any).
- Working Torch
- Knife, Fork, Spoon
- Towel, Soap, Flanel
- Waterproof Jacket
- Couple of quid for possibly bevvie run
Think thats it, I'll add more if I think of any, suggestions are welcome!
I'm in the process of PMing everyone whos displayed interest with how to get there. Anyone else who wants to come, as long as you can PM me before the date, you are more than welcome.

Where is the best train station to come off? I searched for one in brecon but couldn't find one and at what time should we all be there?

Bollocks!!! I knew there was something i'd missed out of the PMs, I was thinking 10AM at the latest, as we have quite a way to cross.
As regards to train station, I think theres a station at Brecon, definately one at Hereford. Which is about 20 miles. I can pick people up if they are coming on the train. If they come to Hereford - but I'd need to know in advance.

Right I cant make the recce unfautuantly got a job interview on the 26th and still nursing a knee injury so the fast pace bit aswell as the interview puts me off those dates.
Should definatly be able to make the actual trip though 6th 7th and 8th of april. I live in bristol so anyone wants a lift thats no problem as long as someone can map read while i drive(should be a pretty easy journey).
Cheers, Matt

We will be going at a reasonable pace, the idea of this trip is for us all to meet up, have a laugh aswell as a chance to practice some fieldcraft and enjoy the beacons. Don't be worried about your fitness.

There is no station at Brecon. It was done away with yonks ago.
Nearest would be Abergavenny or Hereford.
Plus, getting to Brecon is only part one of the exercise. The Beacons are a bit more remote if you are relying on public transport

Bird,
Doing things like this for "fun" is not for me...not when I've done it loads of times for work.
Don't mind giving advice from the comfort of my fireside chair though
If someone sends me the details once they are finalised, I may just pop along and see you all.
