From the people I know who have been there and done it, 32 weeks of basic training is not fun, they describe it more like hell.
I would therefore say get to used to being knackered, tired and miserable when you go running in order to simulate what it will really be like.
I go running along country roads mainly and it is really pleasant to lose yourself in thought while running next to some lovely scenery, however I know I won't be thinking about the lovely scenery when I'm doing the 3 miler (or 30 miler if I get there)!
