I read in the Telegraph that if they are going to send an infantry battalion,
it will be light infantry, this means the LI or the RGJ, or the PARAs as their secondary role is light infantry.

I find it amazing that the MOD can announce that they are cutting 5,000 soldiers from the Irish Regiments then announce they embarking on yet another scheme that requires even more soldiers. I wonder were in funny reccesses of their mind do they think they are going find these men, or is that the idea of leaving the TA out in Irqa for a year while they send the regulars of to the Congo, a place i think we should stay out of. The Belgians/French/Russians and the Cubans have all had a go out there only to pack up and go home with out gaining a thing.

By the way BenChug back to the conscript army, the only reason I joined was to save my self going to prison, but all the National Service of that time fought bravely in dozens of battles even that bloody 3 year war in Korea was fought maily by National Servicemen who did not fail to do there duty. One other thing just how did you get shot with a .22 I did not think that they were a fighting weapon in the British Army.

O yah and if you read the other part of the message I said
Owdun my good man thats why I mentioned the bitter fight to the end!
As many units do an excellent job it is entirely dependant on which blokes you get with you. And I personally think that you should have compulsory military service still, but in todays world we would rather pay for sex changes with our health care than the military.. Goddamn Canada!
