I used to live in a far suburb where we had a fox that would run around the backyard. Then I let my German Shepherd out. He ripped the fox's head off. At the murder trial, my dog said
Of course I committed an inhuman act. I'm an animal.

They have already had go at some match fishing events in the midlands. One fat cow did here usual party piece of throwing herself in during a match, the law got her as there was a local bylaw against swimming in the canal.

Are the fishing tournaments over there catch-and-release, or are they killed and eaten? I'm in the kill and eat camp myself. I'd object to killing them only if they were then going to be thrown away. It's not right to waste food. What kind of fish are they, anyway? Trout, maybe? And do Scottish trout wear tartan?

No but cock Salmon at this time of year with there spawning colours , are said to have there tartan trews on. As they say "many a true word said in jest".
Match fishing in the UK, all fish are retuned alive, I have heard an argument about this being wrong as the fish are not being killed to eat they shouldn't be caught for fun. Well if it wasn't for the match angling clubs there would be very little life on the countries canals and rivers.
We have a voluntary catch and release system on the river I fish for salmon. But it is against the law to take 'gravid fish' that is fish that are about to spawn, and you should see the care that some people take to get a fish to recover properly as it's returned .
My hobbie horse, rant over.

So you have people objecting to
catch-and-release tournaments? Sounds like they don't have enough to do. Sheesh. What are they arguing, that the poor fish get tired out?

Something tells me that if we were able to interview the fish they'd be pissed off about the hooks in their lips, but would say it's worth it because fighting on the line is better than sex.

A "Gentleman" showing off his catch and his "HEM, HEM" Tackle.
You never see tackle like that in the Angling Shop mind!
