Sounds Excellent, i'd love to give it a lash. I can supply some Kendall Mint Cake at 20 miles (and a blast of Jameson).

They give you a kit list of equipment which comes to 24 pounds, then weigh it before you go out the gate. Plus your rifle. No safety bergan anymore. Tyhe corporal doing the route will carry that

No one here seems to mention TIMES.
What times are you looking at and what is the Max you have.... we did the 30miler from Oakhampton, 10 miles over moorland and bog, then 20 miles on roads finishing up at Telegraph hill.
Did mine in 6hrs 15 mins, not exceptionally good, however when you consider that my legs were shorter that everyone elses and in effect covered twice the distance, it was not bad.
I remember well being put in a 3 tonner to await others to return, then the haul back to Lympstone, on return on this bitterly cold Feb day, I completely seized up, could'nt move an inch so had to be extracted from the wagon, straight into a warm bath, weapon and all!
Within 1hr30m, kit cleaned or in the Dhobi and we were all in the NAFFI drowning pints.
Aye those were the days..........?

On completion four of us, who had been sent off with the YO batch, went back down the route to help Paddy White get through, his ankles had gone. I seem to remember he made it, just, but there was an awful lot of carrying and support involved

You get 8 hours as a nod and 7 as a 'posh nod' (YO) - our troop boss, to his credit, insisted on YO times for everything. We had to start and finish as a section so timings weren't really relevant so long as the section passed. One failed - we all failed. Ours was all cross country apart from about 10 minutes around Postbridge.
It's a shame nods don't have to carry the safety bergan - handover time made for some lively discussion and dummy throwing.
