That's a point actually. Doesn't making it a paid service render the admin liable for all sorts of rules and regs? Consumer rights, tax laws, obligations for this, that and the other?

Joe, you're right, we would still get some idiots who don't realise that they are, and want to pay to join, but I'm guessing they would have to spend some time knocking about the free section while the mods made a decision.
I don't know how it would work if someone turned out to be a nobber after they'd paid their subs, perhaps Admin or a mod have contingency plans for that...

Surely there would be some kind of disclaimer saying that even though you have paid, the moderators reserve the right to kick you off if you are a nobber/walter. I'm sure the nobbers wouldn't be too willing to pay the 5 quid more than once if they get kicked off.
I am all for paying for access to this site. I think it's a great idea and I am very grateful to admin for paying for it out of their own pocket so far.
Thank you.

So I've clicked the 'Join Group' button... how do I pay? Paypal?

AB, think that goes for the majority of members mate, that's why we're all queuing up with our credit cards and cheque books!
Can we have a membership card to flash at unsuspecting civilians in the pub?

What happens to those people who don't have credit cards?
There will be several ways to pay in time, credit/debit card, cheque or paypal etc.
None of the links I've tried work and here I am with credit card ready.
The service is not 100% ready, in the meantime while we are counting down and trying to bring you the service early, this is purely for interest only to offer you information and what changes are going to occur.
But if the Walters want too have a bit of fun and pay and then get the "extra services", surely you can't do anything about it/them because they have payed?
During the signing up period of subscription there will be a disclaimer, if these rules are broken, you will be banned from the subscription service and subscription payment will not be refundable.

We are currently revamping an old naafi, the bar is just coming along nicely.

Not all apply, as subscription will only be sponsoring and paying for the hardware supplied. The rest is all in hand, otherwise we woundn't be supplying such a service without looking at certain criteria first.

Is this the reason the Special Forces forums have been locked, or was that because of something else I'm not aware of?
If so, is that all that unpaying members are going to be barred from?

The SF Forums were locked because of the amount of idiots and wannabes posting dross in there.

Surely by changing the forum to a subscription only service, you have given in to them and they have had their little victory. I would just ignore the ones you suspect of being frauds then they will get the message when nobody replies to them. You shouldn't have to change this forum because of them. Just my opinion but the best way of dealing with people like that is to take the high road and don't even acknowledge their existence when they appear on the forum.

Unfortunately with so many members of differing biting capabilities the dorks are very difficult to isolate in the way you describe. There will be separate areas of interest to everyone. Poor old Beast has been working hard at reorganising things in between doing his kamikaze on a bike dramas. Patience boys and girls........then we go out and keeeel something!

Proud Salopian... I have to agree with your sentiments but as Prez says... over the years these dickheads have, individually lasted only a few months, if that....but is appears that the frequency that they log on as a whole.. is the problem... and if the case is that we need Membership... then So be it... I do however, think this is using a hammer to crack a nut... If thats the way we have to go, then I'm for it..

I don't see it has having been defeated, after all, we obviously beat them to the front of the queue when brain cells were being handed out, and they'll have to live with being nobbers all their lives, while we can just walk away from them.
I'm quite happy to pay a subscription, as there are always costs to cover when running a site like this. Besides, the Retreat is getting a bit crowded, and I don't want to have to sit on anyone's knee!
