I saw it. The first 20 minutes are so pro-democratic, poor minorities it was pathetic, but he nailed the trail on the Bush and Arab connection. But then he makes the US soldier look like a bunch of blood orgy psychos under a spell cast from a J box spouting satanic heavy metal lyrics. Then he goes on to show a mother grieving over her lost son. That was a real home hitter considering. Actually Wholley me and Bill both went and saw it.
One thing as an American under 40 I saw soething I couldn't believe. The supreme court ruling against minority votes in Florida. The minorities faces with expressions of shock caught me and matched mine on that one. They had always been a bunch of judicial activists even ruling against common sense in favor of color schemes, but not this time and it was shocking to see it on the screen.
But look at Gore, he would have been a dumber version of Clintoon.
Not that Bush is smart, but Bush knows he's dumb. Hey thank goodness for the CIA. Free elections in this country could be a threat to national security. We let anybody vote. :rainbowafro:

lol the reaction of the Bushites always makes me laugh when it comes to Moore's work.

Why cant they just accept people seeing it and making up their own minds?

Instead we have anti-Moore books, boycotts, cinemas refusing to show it, anti-Moore websites.

Are Americans overly influenced by TV or something? Cos thats the conclusion im reaching.

Awe Wholley Moore is a turd, his movie is like a joke 90% b/s and 10% fact. Kerry, Bush it doesn't matter we are in for a rough future.
Take Bush for instance he has a ranch full of wetbacks working for nothing he and Kerry have the same dreams for us. America will either implode, a world war will bust out of chaos here will ensue eventually. One thing is for sure, we ain't never going back.
I figure Bobby Lee if alive today would have went to Texas and hollard north, bring your big ass on!
The whole system especially the judiciary is off the wall corrupt. Activist judges. Israel is off the hook, we are in deep, that stupid chick General in the Iraqi ass rape prison said Izzy soldiers were busy as bee's in those prisons. If you was religious you might figure the end of time be at hand, if you ain't it is easy to see we are in for some ww2 scale fighting in the future.
Eitherway no one likes us anymore or trusts us, hell I live here and don't trust the system.

Mince,
I say the same thing. Moore though made me dislike him to put it nicely when he made Columnbine. I live in Colorado and the deal is he makes guns the scapegoat for his movie. It wasn't a documentary, it was not an honest attempt to make a visual story based on fact, it was a anti-gun montage meant to evoke emotion. He ignores the two killers were gay/bisexual, that their parents saw them making bombs, but thought nothing of it, they wrote essays for 2 years talking about killing sprees and no one said nothing, and the school officials looked on as these two nut cases were picked on beyond breaking point and picked on some more. These guys were ultimately to blame, their parents, the school teachers for not calling the parents, the parents of the kids they shot for not teaching their kids to treat others with dignity and respect. The kids who picked on them, alot of people need to be called on the carpet, but he chose guns and then went after K-Mart? Yeah Moore was looking to sell a flick, not tell the truth.

First of all Moore makes America seem like a place full of people with guns and people willing to give guns away no questions asked.
Like the bank scene. Moore edited the whole thing to make it look like he tossed down 10 bucks, opened an account and a teller tossed him a rifle. This was false, he didn't show you the 10 miles of paper work and back ground checks he went through or the waiting period of 10 days required.
So he set the stage for dishonest film making.
9/11 was pelted with this same style of yellow journalism. It was alot of Bush bashing. Maybe he deserves some of it? Maybe he doesn't. But what I found true, it wasn't edited or cut that most Americans won't catch is when Moore talks to Congressmen and a congressman tells him the Patriot Act was sitting on a shelf for years some place and they didn't read it before they passed it, and better they don't real any of the legislation they pass 3/4ths of the time. As a US citizen and having a decent knowledge of our system, this floored me. I will say thank you to Moore for confirming my worst fears and will say if that is the case, if Congress acts this irresponsibly in their duties then our days are numbered.
Then we see Moore asking Congressmen to enlist their kids in the military to support the war they voted for, it was the look of Empire complete with a Caste system, they looked shocked he'd even ask and he asked dems and republicans. Atleast the republican tried to answer, the dem covered his face, grumbled at fat boy and ran one way, then turned and ran the other.
That is what I took away from the movie and then the Taliban guy who told the American lippy woman reporter who was yaking about womens rights to him that he felt sorry for her husband, she must be difficult to live with. I loved that, one thing about the Taliban, they got our women figured out.

That was Conyers, wasn't it?
I've only seen snippets of the film. I'll wait until it gets to DVD and rent it, but I'll watch it.
Moore's been brought up before in an old thread, and so you know how I feel about the guy, pretty much like Wholley does.
But the thing is that Farenheit 9/11 is a montage of actual footage collected over the last 3- 31/2 years, some of which hasn't been broadcast. I want to see that, though with a wary eye: I know Moore's propensity for 'creative' editing.
Columbine... Well, maybe a better movie about Columbine, or rather inspired by it is Gus Van Sant's 'Elephant'. Moore's film was about guns and contrary to my experience.
Fifteen days waiting period with background check, showing proof of residence (two pieces), passing a written test about gun safety at the gunshop, and not one gun dealer eager to cut corners to sell a piece is what I know.
Even in pawn shops, which by the way no longer consign/sell weapons in California.
The image a majority of people have come from movies where some guy just walks in and buys a piece, no questions asked. And Moore amplified the myth.
Still: Moore and others like him on the other end of political ideology make it hard to keep an open mind. But I'll see his flick all right.

I don't remember what his name was, but that being said, no cuts, no edits was just jaw dropping. Alot of the rest of the flick is b/s. I'd break it into quarters, the first 1/4 is all focused on the stolen election and you could swing it eitherway depending if you go for the popular vote or electoral college, but the point was that the Supreme Court decided it.I don't like the fact the court got involved, it was just a screwed up election.
The second 1/4 is Bush bashing, full of cuts and edits so bad you can clearly see them almost worse than columnbine, he doesn't say much about Blair and I thought that was strange considering how nut to butt Bush and Tone were in the news. the next 1/4 is splint in half between making US troops look like homacidal maniacs in heavy metal trances killing at will and smiling about it to the very sobering words from our own elected officials. Then the last bit is about a mother of a soldier who lost her son in Iraq from his home town. That was sort of tough watching, considering I saw family go through the same thing, it is hard to bring closure with closed coffins. And like you said the end is a true montage of pics and music recapping the whole thing. But that Congress deal just made me crash inside, they admit they don't read the laws they pass.
Good God what do we pay them to do? Oh and he makes pre-war Iraq look like Disney in the desert and Sadman look like a okay dude. I thought that was b/s. Plus filming troops striaght out of a fire fight and then using the footage and their words to make them look like monsters was b/s. What do they expect 19 yearold kids to say and act after they just went from boot camp to war and less than a minute after a fire fight with dead and wounded on both sides? That footage was a cheap shot as far as I can see. I still don't like Moore, I'm pro-gun and I could and maybe I should do a film showing shit bird parents, gay violence, people treating eachother with blatant disrespect and cruelty and its impact on society. Yeah that would show fat boy.

"He ignores the two killers were gay/bisexual"

Whitey what the fcuk has that got to do with the murders?

"US troops look like homacidal maniacs" Arent they?

It doesnt take a film to make Bush look like a dick, he is one through and through.

About as much as I have against a guy adressing me with a sentence with fukc in it with the tone and context you have.

Shut up and leave me alone, or cry to an activist group. I probably don't have anything to say that you would want to hear and as far as me wanting to listen to you? Frankly you have me confused with a man who gives a damn.

Enjoy having a conversation with yourself.
Ps.
"US troops look like homacidal maniacs" Arent they?
Homacidal, of course some are or atleast a great deal. Army's kill people, people they don't even know, my God watch the news, enlist in our forces.
Maniacs? To the man they are!

Hey Whiteman.
Must have touched a nerve with Day Tripper on the gay/bisexual thing.
Did you ever look like a"Homacidal Maniac"?Not that I know what that means exactly.Homicides are generally commited by homicidal maniacs,
but what would I know,maybe it's a British thing.

As your back in the saddle, remember,

It must be tough being one of them these days.
Yeah I edited it, but glad you caught it before hand. Homacidal is like someone who wants to kill someone else? Soldiers are like that in our Amry, I wouldn't want guys who weren't into their work. Maniac's, I love them, I was one.
Clebold (sp) and whats his face were just angry homo/bi-sexuals. It is most ly the fault of prude American women you know, the Angry Lesbian types that roam every place.

As much as I get what you're saying , Whitey, and to a certain point I do agree... Guns can not be blamed for Columbine any more than syringes can be blamed for heroin addiction. But I grew up in the UK, where guns and gun licenses are much harder to come by, and over here, you just don't hear of kids shooting each other. Okay, we've had a few massacres, but when things like that happen, we tighten the gun laws. Since the dunblane incident, it's been near impossible to get a handgun over here. You might disagree, but if the gun laws were the same in the USA as they are in the UK, I don't think Columbine would have happened. Those kids would have still been f*cked up, and they might have tried blowing the school up or something, but it's unlikely that those 15 people would be dead. (As we know, their bombs weren't too succesful)
