He's retired but still pops up from time to time when programme producers want a controversial view to boost the ratings. I'm pretty sure he was never knighted and he relinquished his viscounty [and his right to sit in the House of Lords] many years ago. For that last thing he gets at least some respect from me for standing by his principles.

Mind you, I think most Brits view him as an interesting and amusing diversion from the usually drab presentation of UK politics and politicians. He's never had any real impact for years [decades?], if at all.

What ever you think about Wedgewood Benn he always stuck to his beliefs and fought his corner well.

Your right about Benn he was an hereditary Lord and so obviously never
Knighted.Sands of time I guess, are playing tricks with my memory.

Ah, the hypocrisy of politics, four years ago Tony and his Cronies didn't want Ken, so he stood for Mayor of London as an Independent and won convincingly, now that B Liar has thought Kenny boy has done a fairly decent job he and his cronies have let him (Ken) back in the Labour party to fight for re-election as the official Labour candidate as he doesn't want a Labour candidate to come in 4th place if Ken was to stand as an Independent again, I hope Londoners know how to tactically vote this time round!
