Lee Enfield .303 by far! Has a very smooth bolt and has been used for over 50 years. As a whermact soldier confessed, " advancing on a well trained squad of men with lee Enfields was worse than attacking a machine gun post".
However the 'jungle carbine' Enfield is.. Well rubbish. The barrel is too short and the rate of fire is unsuitable for the jungle.

The Jungle version of the Lee Enfields did the job that it was designed to do. It was smaller and lighter as contact with the enemy was normally at close range. It had a flash eliminator so that it would not give your position away in the jungle or at night. Okay it is not so good for hunting or target shooting over a distance but for the jungle it did its job and saved the soldier carrying extra weight

You make a very good point here however have you ever felt the recoil of the jungle Enfield?! You will see why it was disliked

Yes I have fired thousands of rounds through the Jungle version of the Enfield both as a Cadet and a Soldier, we grew up with these weapons so had learnt to hold them tight to your shoulder.
