The pull up bar in above link still needs permanent support. I bought one thinking that it didnt need to fix to the door frame but it comes with two 'cups' which the bar is seated into. these 'cups' are permanently fixed to the frame therefore damaging it with unsightly holes. without them the bar is in my opinion useless, as has been mentioned you have to continuously twist it to keep it snugly fitted between the door frame. if you dont it has a tendency to drop - not good. your best bet is the bar in the photo, if its purely for pullups. the workout tower is pricier but you getting the dips handles incorporated so chest and tri's can also be trained.

Ah ok my mistake, I have one of them you are talking about were you twist it to secure and it does fine for me lol. That one bored_stupid posted would'nt that wreck the top of your door frame? the ones in my house are not very strong at all

No it wont wreck the top of the door frame as in fact the top of the frame isn't really taking much of the load. Its actually working as a cantilever with the main brunt of the load being transfered to the sides of the door frame. If anything the sides of the door frame at best may suffer from slight indents - but easily overcome by padding with a towel or something, assuming the bar doesn't already come with foam protection.

Good call! may look into gettiing one depending on money.

My workout tower came the other day,i'm glad i got it now its really good,just need to get better at the pull ups can only manage 5 at a time the now and the wide pull ups are even harder can only do 1 off them.

ha! im into week two of my 20 pull up challenge and im doing 6 and half wide grips! which, for me is very good going!

gunner you never said how long your giving yourself to get to 20 pullups? also best way is to do 3 x 1/2 max with a 2 min break between sets. do that every day and you will double your sets within a month. worked for me i can now do 38 max atm.

I'm following a program from a website which takes 6 weeks - but I'm in no rush. When I was younger and weighed next to nothing I could easily get around 15 or more but that was narrower grip usually underhand. My challenge is to get to 20 WIDE grip which is (for me) a lot harder - as Im a lot older and pack on more timber now lol. Iv sacked the weights in the gym and now just do pressups (25 to 1 pyramids), pullups, shoulders and lots of running.

just over 12 stone now, 5ft 11 so not miniature XD All it takes is to keep going, you will get there if you want it. every day 3 x 1/2 max and test every 2 weeks for your next number you should be doing 1/2 of.

theres a guy a talk to at the R U UP FOR IT training day i go to on wednesdays that does 30 with 20kg bag pack on and 65 with no weights,he was asking people if there was a record cause he thinks he could maybe break it the guy is a machine we did the 1.5mile run togeather and he got 8 mins 15 i think it was hes super fit.

I'm just under 13stone and 5ft 8, not fat though. The routine I'm following is more or less what your advising anyway mate. Although a week consists of three separate days of training. I tend to train 1 on 1 off, but run every day, apart from weekends as thats beer time

im 14 st 2 pounds and am pure drunk haha getting married next friday and and 6 ft 1 inch bmi is around 27
