It was a lot of hard work, the AFCO weren't really aware, or seemed not to be aware of what was really involved. (The small print was left out?)
Whatever happens, DO NOT QUIT during the skirmishes(beastings), 3 miler etc. The PTIs will try and get rid of as many as possible.
Keep your head down, listen, and try to enjoy it.
Ask as many sensible questions as possible, there is an amazing amount of knowledge from all around just waiting to be tapped.
Good Luck.

Alright mate,

I done my AST in July, had my Interview a week later and Medical the week after that.

I received a letter from my AFCO advising that my PGAC date is on the 18th Jan 2010.

I therefore assume that providing all goes well you should have PGAC in approx March.

AFCO also said that the travel will be paid for.

Hope this helps.

"I think to do well in the Marines you have to REALLY want it. My mates were telling me that they dont look at it from a career or challenge point of view they just want that green beret, "
IF THE RAF REGT had this ethos they would have a recruitment winner maybe. fair enough you have the raf regt mudguards but hardly earnt through blood snot and sweat that the marines have done to earn their mudguards. raf reg i think are wisening up to that fact that people actually want to belong to a unit thats f*ckin hard to join and as such are being more stricter both mentally and physically towards the applicants in the aplication process. about time too!
i think RAF REGT needs something to separate it from the guins . i hated those lot (no offence guins if your reading as i know its mutual :D ) but come on, the only thing that links them is the base their both stationed on (oh yeah and the job regt are tasked to).
personally thinking i think the whole of future RAF Regt training should have its 2sqn ethos stamped all over it but then i am biased. but also one could argue 'if it aint broke dont fix it' ....in other words airborne mantra works BIG TIME.

Is, or was there that much of a difference between the squadrons in the RAF Regiment gunner75? I can see how this could effect a whole Regiment (i.e the Para's in the Army), but a squadron? How many blokes are there in II Squadron, and does everyone have a chance to join or do their version of P-Coy?

I agree with what your saying about making it more difficult. I looked into it a while ago and the minimum requirements were quite poor.

Yeah just that the Regiment isnt recruiting at the moment :-?

I'll be giving them a ring today like to get a bit more info from them but as it stands i'm in limbo! Just got to be patient i think and use the time as a bonus to train/prepare for the PGAC.

If i had it my way i would like to do it around February.

Hopefully they can 'fit me in' :D

Whatever bangs your drum, but as long as they fit and are comfy there is no need to spend more than £20 - £30 on trainers, (I would baulk at £30).

My theory is similar to the one I hold on buying your own military style boots.

If you think spending up to £100 on trainers will help you, think again.

Disagree mate re trainers.

I bought a pair for £30 (Nike) running shoes and still got the blisters etc, i got rid of them and bought a pair of asics for £85 and they are amazing! No blisters anymore, i feel like i can run forever lol

cheers.
