Only once you reach lance jack and higher does your pay become higher band. Otherwise like me, you take home £820 a month....wooooh!

Just saw this post.

Is this really the pay for a private in the Army now. Man that sounds bad. I can earn more than that on a weekend in overtime. No wonder many boys leave.

I was just comparing it to say a Policeman/woman. Plus they get plenty of overtime.

I know their job has risks and they can also get injured but when you think of the boys in Afghanistan and their injuries, living conditions, time away from their families etc.

Personally I don't think that would be to bad for someone who is early 20's.

If your happy with it mate then go for it. Funny how the government thinks the Police deserve more however.

I understand what your saying about the police and I do totally agree with you, but I would be happy with £820 in my back pocket and not have to worry about bills.

Hi i see all your posts about "PARA" pay.......When you do your jumps you are legible to jump anytime in that year you only get extra pay when you are on call so....when you go to afganistan and they say you could jump at a moments notice you therefore are on extra pay which i belive is 4 pound something a day.
This is not just for paras but for any person in the services.

I do not know if paras get extra pay for P coy or just for being a para but anyone who knows it would be appreciated.

I know, £820 on beer at the local disco plus a kebab at the end of the night.

Thing is a private with a wife and children is not on that much more.

All the best. Take you time and found out what you want. Don't spend the rest of your life regretting, because you rushed things.
