Its ok i didnt know nothing either when i first applied. If your joining infantry you choose a regiment, usualy the local regiment. My local regiment is The royal Anglian regiment wich recruits from Lincolnshire etc etc. I think Merseyside local regiment is the Mercian Regiment? 1st Battalion Mercian Regiment is 'Light Role Infantry' 2nd Battalion Mercian Regiment is 'Light Role Infantry' 3rd Battalion is 'Armoured Infantry' 4th Battalion is 'TA Reserves' & its part of the 'Prince of Wales Division' wich is made up by the Mercian Regiment & the Royal Welsh.

Mercian

1st Battalion - Catterick
2nd Battalion - Holywood
3rd Battalion - Tidworth
4th Battalion - Wolverhampton

Mercian Regiment recruit from the following counties

Cheshire
Derbyshire
Nottinghamshire
Staffordshire
Worcestershire

So if your in them counties its your local regiment, then the above info is useful and remember it.

Enjoy mate.

Yes and no, it deppends on what you're joining, RAF, NAV, or ARMY in those you got regiments ect and in that you got job choices or specialisation choices..

check out the online recruiting office, ask them questions :D

Get talking to some recruiter on the chat.

Yeah, you can do it like that but my recruiter liked a bit of an idea of what I'd choose first, I.E, combat, Behind lines stuff like that.

Yeah you get your job choices when you have done your BARB & Basic Skills. Like JStagg said its best to know what kind of thing you want to do, if you want a combat role Infantry, if you dont want to be frontline try Royal Artillery? If you want engineering, Royal engineers? Driving try RLC? If your not sure just speak to your advisor.

yeah cheers guys i was thinking infantry but then i thought royal artillery because with jobs in there you can get some of your driving licences

You can get a driving license in most things mate, when I got interviewed at ADSC i was asked if I had any points on my license and I said I didn't have it and he said we will get you one in the Army so I'm guessing the choice is there and if you want it you take it.

Firepower, im guessing you'd be on the same intake as me and adam, the 22nd of Feb. it would make more sence if you was any way, you should enjoy you're self there, get friendly with people as soon as you get there it helps.

Yeah the date should be 22nd feb-ish

The recruiter only said that they're booked up untill early feb, but i'm going to ask about the insight course also

I'll get friendly no doubt :P Only thing I'm worried about is the medical.. like being deferred for something stupid will really put me off, but i should be ok

Firepower ditch the insight course you may have to wait longer, if you get the 22nd feb ITC then you will be going through it with me and jstagg and im also going for royal anglian regiment so you may get posted same place as me after ITC.

That place will be Iraq r Afghanistan lol, yeah firepower, don't threat about the medical, it's not as bad as you think.
The cough and drop is some excruciating pain thou seriously bad for you're balls hehehe.

Insight course i wouldn't bother with that like Adams said it could put you in to a later intake and to be honest, there's nothing you can't ask here and get a better answer for than the insights.. apart from the way NCOS and SNCO's act.
