Ice them after your run and before bed. That comes from the horses mouth so to speak. It contracts the muscle making the tears (if it is shin splints) smaller and easier to repair.

Thanks, I'll start that tomorrow. Going to stop running until next Monday I think, to give it bit of time to heal. Going back the AFCO on Thursday to give some papers in so think I'm going to tell them about it and get a different date for Lichfield. Saves me failing first time lol
