Had a feeling you was gonna say that!lol. New generation nods mate! You not hear its with daysacks as well now chris??
I haven't actually yomped in good weather yet, so I don't know, I don't want it to be hot, just dry, but to be honest it doesn't really matter what the weather is, at the end of the day its gonna hurt.lol.

The lads just wrapped because it was that bad and the weather was taking the piss. We had a capt from the RMR who resigned after the ex... That says a lot.
What you trying to say about rubber daggers Felias?
Final Ex always seems so different from one to the next, i guess its all just dependant on resources and what not aswell. They do all get the same core stuff in though. Ive heard some that have sounded awesome, and people have really enjoyed them, and then some that have sounded fairly dull and just been a hangout. Luck of the draw i guess, and the only important thing is that you pass, whether you enjoy it or not.
I cant imagine you'd want the weather to be too nice though tom? Yomping in the heat is a killer aswell, but i guess at the end of the day its all irrelavent really as you've come this far and your going to just crack on regardless.
Best of luck mate, and enjoy your leave.

The Capt from the RMR, resigned because he thought how pointless were the silly 9 1/2 hr yomp where we only covered around 7 miles(speculation on dist), he was a good capt, just pukka threaders with my training team. 3 guys got injured and were pulled off the yomps, 2 diamonds wrapped, 2 other lads also wrapped. My worst ex was Running man, lost 14 blokes to that one for many reasons. Killer yomp was particularly bad for my troops because the yomps were none stop. 12 miler, then some 9 1/2hr honkin thing, then killer yomp. A few smaller yomps. We covered around 40 miles.. Possibly a little more.

Oh right, got you, i thought you were saying he resigned because he joined in on the ex and was farked off with it and couldnt do the yomp/didnt want to to do it.Tottaly missed your point. That does sound like a fairly bad wrapping rate, considering the stage of training and the two lads being diamonds etc etc. It does seem strange to me, how different each troops exercises can be. I can remember our PTI going mental with the training team once because we were having so many injuries in the field from 'corrective' training, and loads of people were turning up for phys with chits excusing them from PT sessions. He said it had never happened this bad before, and some of the stuff in the beastings was pointless and just asking for injuries. It came to a head after a fair few were huntered after marshall star. Supposedly the Compnay Commander asked a few questions, but it may have just been all nodvine talk.

I nearly got my leg amputated because of the honking infection I picked up on Dig ex. I went 5 days in the most excruciating pain in my knee which was the size of my face. I was on the ward for a few days, mega hanging out and pukka threaders with myself for not telling no body and cracking on. I got a bollocking from my troop boss for not flaggin it up.

I would have had your guts for garters young Felias! The old saying for want of a horse, etc, etc, still rings true for me even now!
I was no better truth be told. Come my Kings Squad pass out I had a bad case of Woodbury rash on the palm of my left hand. During our weeks practice period the First Drill was in attendance on the Monday. Come the command from YorkieMalone my Cpl DL and now one of my Bessie Oppo's
"General Salute, Present Arms!" the First Drill sussed out that all was not well with me. Up he marched, pace stick under his arm....."Evans let me see your Paw now!" (I'd babysat for him a couple of times so he knew me name).
I took of my white glove which was more yellow than white due to the fact that my Woodbury rash has burst come the present arms. He took one look and ordered me to hit the Sickbay ASAP. As it was come the final pass out I did not "pass out" as my left hand was much better thus I passed out with my troop (51 Troop, 10th Feb 1974).
I'm nearest the camera. Notice how my left hand is a tad different from the guy next to me. All because I had that much strapping wound around my hand that it is a tad odd unlike the other blokes hand.
So take it as read gentlemen. If you have an injury and do what Felias and I did then you could end up getting a Medical Discharge or (if you are lucky!) spending weeks or even months in Hunter Troop (in my day it was called Chosin Troop).
Even if you are put into Hunter Troop don't worry about it please gentlemen! Once you get that Green Lid and your Flashes on passing out from CTCRM your going to meet your Oppos from your original Troop anyway over time!
I was lucky and passed out with the troop I joined up with. However nearly half of my Troop on my passout were blokes who had been injured or Back Trooped. Didn't matter one little bit once we joined our respective units because we were Bootnecks and fully able to do our jobs.

haha tom, i wouldn't worry about final ex, i was carrying a wickid infection in my elbow which put me in the hospital the last day for almost a week after, i missed a hoofin attack because 40 commando was attacking the same place as us so we did a joint attack on it. Threaders that i was in the hospital with a forearm the size of my thigh, but i did what most people would do and just went on, missed all the run throughs on the tarzan and endurance course and cracked them all first time during the commando tests!

I pukka seen myself off with that injury it's just I didn't want to miss criteria parts of the ex to stay with my troop because our troop bos and training team were out for blood.

Artist, how did you have Woodbury rash so late in training?
It wouldn't fit in with the current syllabus so just wondered.
Regards,
Greg.

Artist can correct me if im wrong, but i believe back in the day you use to do final ex and then the next week you'd be on kings squad because they use to do commando tests week 25 or something like that. but don't quote me that.
