The hardest thing I found about bottem field was that thier was more running than I expected. The press ups, sit ups, squat thrusts, firemans carry, piggyback rides, - all that I expected. But it was a pain in the arse to be sprinting back and forth over 60m and 100m respectively every 90seconds. My best recommendation for when you get down thier is to grab a pair of boots that fit well - mine were a bit too big on me since I wasnt used to the boot sizes system.
Gym test 2 could have been as hard as bottem field, but is only made easier by the fact you know what you are going to do in advance, and you have a relative idea about how long it will take. (although if they say an exercise will last for 3minutes, expect it to last for ten).
And trust the PTis when they tell you to eat LOTS. A few lads cut down on thier food so they ouldnt be sick - bad idea because most people WILL be sick. At least if you eat loads theres a better chance some will remain, and having to do any of the tests on an empty stomach will just act against your morale.
A few of the lads on my course were sick during the march down to bottem field because of the anticipation of waht it involves. I'm guessing peopel will be even more apprehensive if bottem field/assault course is the very first of the tests they have to do. At least if you do the other exercies first, you have a chance to adapt to the pressure.
Remember, bottem field is just the name of the place. The exercises done thier should be treated no differently than those performed during the other tests. Think of botte field as a warm up that goes on for longer than normal. It may be different now, but bottem field was a warm up and a test rolled into one. You wont have time to catch your 'second breath' so its just a matter of putting in 100% Maximum effort and then being consistant throughout the time period - the PTis cant keep you there forever, but they will keep oyu there for longer if you dont give maximum. But its better than giving in and then having to get an early shower.
