Chas, "Finally never forget the o/r Booties are really magnificent and real friends for life." You say this, and that is one of the main reasons i will be joining as a O/R. I think that it would be the right step for me, even though becoming a mne has huge responsibilty, becoming an officer has more, so i believe i should wait at least a couple of years anyway. Thats even if i want to become an officer, or just try and futher my self at o/r level.

Chas wrote:Jack 1998. I strongly advise you not to join as an other rank but to
take time out and do something really adventurous in the meanwhile.
It will broaden your outlook, increase your maturity and show you new horizons.
However if you were to join as an o/r all eyes would be on you and for
all you know there might not be enough openings for a Corps Commission.
Finally you would have to undertake the Ccse once more with your
batch intake and undertake all the training again at a more advanced
level. If you fail to obtain a commission having passsed all further
steps then and then only consider the o/r route. As a caveat since I
am a member of the older brethren please seek further subject advice.
Finally never forget the o/r Booties are really magnificent and real friends for life.
Treat them well, don't be snottie and they will reciprocate. As a simple
example one fight in Exmouth and one in Exeter. I wanted to play my
part but my oppos threw me out via the head's window.
When asked why they responded your are up for officer selection and
we don't want you to f..k-up. We want you to succeed. (1958) I owe you
Mne. Dare !

Chas
You answered the call, so thanks

Grrr bad news might have to cancel the 7th November Darren mate which i'm devastated about!, as i've just been made redundent the company i work for want me to work up until christmas in exchange for a bonus, good one way but cancelling is crap especially with two fellow members going from here!.
Just hope the AFCO won't mind to much.
Will let you know my situation mate as soon as i know.

Bad luck Chris, still I guess the bonus you'll receive will make up for it!?!
Just called my AFCO and requested a new date for the start of November so hopefully can get put on this one.
EDITED;
To say that I just heard back from my AFCO (damn he's efficient!) and I am on for the
15th November (travelling on the 14th) so unfortunately I won't be going down with you guys on the 7th
Chris, just had a thought (rare). Can you not take a few days holiday from work to do your PRMC? That way you'd be getting it out of the way and could request to start RT in the new year.

hope jack is still on this date, thats fair enough if theres a big fat check waiting at the end of it tho, especially before christmas. Ali, know of anyone from mfat on the 15th?
p.s...travelling on the 15th? are we allowed to go down the day before the prmc starts??

ali_hire wrote:I am on for the 15th November (travelling on the 14th)
I think everyone travels down on the Tuesday and then comes back on the Friday, gives you the weekend to recover/celebrate.
(I don't know if this is the same for all PRMCs but it was for the last one I had booked in).
