Good luck to all in 927 Trp. I shall watch your progress with interest
in the Globe and Laurel. Then I will recall 50 years ago. "Go for it Lads."
Best wishes from an 'old git' but always a Royal.

Read my introduction on the general forum. And yes I was a Royal
Marine when CTCRM never existed. It was ITCRM in that day and
a Nissen hutted camp. 12 double tiered bunks, pot bellied stove in
the middle always burnished even in cold weather as were the coal
buckets. No.4 Lee Enfield rifles (303) chained and padlocked to our
bunks. Heads immaculate at end of hut. Decks immaculate. When
I won my Green beret I was told- "Well done Young Sir, just go to
stores and draw it." No fancy parades then just very matter of fact.
Best of luck-
RMV202910 (1956)Mne. Smallest in squad. Then 2Lt. 17/04/59- etc.
No big deal first BUT foremost I was a Royal Marine- Go for it.

As you are now aware I was eventually after 3 years commissioned.
Many years later as an HSF officer with the Queen's Regt. I took a TA
unit down to CTCRM to watch a King's Squad passout. It was very good.
However I was astounded by the superb overall facilities available.
Our grots for the visit were in the old hospital wing which is used by the
AACCse. Our scran was served in the officer's mess. That was an eye
opener the old ITCRM officer's mess was a shack with some roses in front
of it.

Haha yeah, I'm sure that DL will be harrasing future troops too. He just loves it, whenever we see him around camp he always says 'orite losers'- lol- what a legend. Week 3 and 4 are f@#k around weeks, but its all good stuff, just can't wait to get off leave and crack on with training.

Haha mate, I am in this own troop

. He's always putting us on extra parader or dirty recruit. He just loves coming into a room and saying its shit, when its not too bad. You can even see him sometimes walk up to a NOD inspect him, find nothing is wrong take his beret off and inspect it for 5 minutes, looking for a small defect, which he obviously finds- lol. All good stuff.
