Im a scrawny little 19 year old who can barely play rugby properly and I play for a seconds team (only firsts and seconds here) on the wing out here where the guys are mostly in their 30's with half their weight in their bear bellies. FItness-wise its kinda low but its good for sprints and training with others, spices up the fitness regime and stops me getting bored while training which is mostly done on my own. Plus I consider any injuries I do get as an indication that its a good time for a rest :)
Go down to the thirds where it will be less competetive but you can still get the enjoyment out of playing rugby, and it will save you from having to change your user name.

haha hadn't thought about the username :o

Thirds is seeming a good option, although some of my friends my disagree! but atleast it's still playing rugby i suppose. I'll probably give it a shot this wednesday as it's only one training session a week

stay playing your sports until after you PASS your PRMC then give it up, thats what I did, I gave up the Rugger after I passed PRMC and am glad because I would be sick if I got injured now

Well, I've gone and done it.

Went out running on Saturday and felt something start to burn in the front of my left shin. I thought, "Oh shit, my shin splints are playing up again." (hadn't had a problem for ages and I thought they were gone for good!).
After about 10 more metres I had to stop. Usually it would have been fine by later that evening but now it's Monday and it still hurts to walk on, driving is very painful.
I am hoping that in a few days it will have subsided and that I've just strained something. I really hope I don't have to put my PRMC back!

I guess it just goes to show that you can get an injury from doing anything!

Not good mate........just the luck of the draw i guess. You had a browse on here for things to help shin splints out?? should be ok for PRMC mate, try goin for non impact cv like cycling, rowing etc etc, or would even that be too painfull??

I'm going to give cycling a go tonight and see what happens so I can at least keep doing something CV-wise.
