Jarhead, you aren't the only one, some of us are made for water it seems :wink:

Digital, switch to crawl sooner rather than later, it's faster, does much more for your upper body, and breaststroke / running don't always go well together (has to do with the muscles you use in the kick, can stress them out too much when combined with running). As for distance/speed, it's the combination of the two that matters. You can walk 3 miles, but it won't do anywhere near as much for you as running 3 miles. Similarly, you need to be working at a decent pace swimming to get results from it. Try aiming for a mile in 30 mins in a few months, which is a pretty decent pace.

Im sure that I saw in a survival programe that you should drink other peoples piss. This is because YOUR body filters out stuff that YOU dont need, so to re-drink it would be pointless. However SOMEBODY ELSES piss may contain things that YOU need which THEY didnt. Hope that makes sense, I tried to maximise the impact with the CAPITALS :lol:

Also by half submerging a bottle half full of piss you can collect condensation somehow (have to be in a desert and do some clever stuff I cant remember)

Please Note: There is a possibility that I did infact dream this! So only put it to test if you are in a life or death situation.. actually maybe you shouldnt! - Either way your going to be drinking somebody elses piss which where I come from can earn you a pint of carlsberg (probably the best lager in the world)

I thought this topic was on swimming not other water sports

what about salt water swimming pools can they kill the same amount of germs, because I heard on the news that over long periods the chlorine can damage lung tissue

yep i'm also thinking that you probably dreamt this, i really don't know what benefits drinking other peoples piss could bring, and wouldn't like to find out :-?

my grandad used to swim hamstard( and he was a proper decent swimmer, used to swim out to sea, sometimes mile or two out and the lifeguads used to think he drownign and swim out to save him, then once they relised he was fine they got proper anoying lol) but anyway he swam there for ages and NEVER got worm so i guess its clean.

Just before my POC in March I could swim just over two miles in one hour. I used to swim twice a week and was in the Wiltshire squad. Since then I havent swam though because I got some virus that knocked me for six for three months. You are correct, it is hoofing for your muscles and aerobic capacity! I'm looking to join abck my old club some time this month!

Aye, that's what I was doing pretty much every day last summer Lets. Sadly for me neither that or cycling seem to have f@#k all impact on my ability running. :evil:

As for tapeworm, I grew up in Scotland, swam in rivers & drank streams, I've most likely had much worse things than tapeworm. At least it keeps you thin!

PS Please note that I was taking it, not drinking it, so let's stop the weird piss debate.

I thought i was a strong swimmer until i failed the Swim test miserably :(

Used to swim for hours on end non stop.

My little leggies wouldn't work any more after bottom field :cry:

While we are off the topic of piss, bathing your feet in it is supposed to harden them and stop blisters (but was also told that vinegar may do the same for them)
