Why would you want to take uniform on leave?

So he can wear it to the pub?

I can't remember where I heard it and so it might not be true but, I remember hearing that guys were not allowed to wear uniforms when off duty/off base (can't remember which) as it was deemed a security risk. I also heard that this had changed and that they could wear uniforms off base as to help with the recruitment situation.

As I said, I don't remember where I heard this or the exact details so don't take my word for it.

Bit gay taking your rig home really

Yep you werent allowed to wear it once upon a time as certain Paddys took shots at you in the name of an united Ireland.

Changed just after I left the mob. As certain Paddys are now our friends.

But taking it home is gay, going to your local in full blues with pith helmet, kevlar boady armour and NVG's stapped to your forehead is so uncool!

haha I can just imagine that now , going into a really rough pub with full lovats and blues on. People would probably think your a psycho or something. .

I was actually hoping to do that AFTER the 32 weeks. As to ease my pride. Just one more question, If I can take an Ironing board with me does it need a green cover?? Oh an also do you bring your own Iron?? Or do you get issued one?

Think them one with the naked men on are quite popular at the moment, especially the Peter Andre one! he's dam fine!!!

I would advise any of you guys going down to take a good mousturiser with you as your skin will get very dry from the elements and washing all the time.
You are told before leave not to take any military kit home with you and that you shouldn't wear anything with a globe and laurel or 'Royal Marines' on it. That includes the t shirts you can buy from CTC.
The first weekend in foundation they let you go ashore to buy things and I would advise buying an ironing board then, it makes life a lot easier. And don't turn up with a crap iron.

i know a lad in your troop called max, dont know if your familier with him.
some helpfull extra bits of kit there for me to get my hands on, cheers.

I don't know anyone who has been attacked by peace activists but I imagine it could happen. Several people in my troop have been attacked in Exeter because people can see that they are recruits without them wearing any RM kit. It's very obvious who recruits are and people don't like us.
