What happens if you are home on leave and you do decide to pop a pill, then next morning you are recalled to go on deployment. I certainly wouldnt want any of my family to be working alongside you as your judgment is obviously impaired!!

Drugs of any kind are for losers

Flo as always you have hit the nail on the head me Darling.

Happened to me a few times. First was 1974 when the Turks invaded Cyprus. Last was 1982 when the Argies invaded the FI's. After the last re-call I was taking Morphine a few weeks later. Prescribed mind!!! :D

Arrrr the joys of being on the planet ZOG! :D :D :D .

Sorry mate, but who are you trying to convince, us or yourself?

If you have a problem then face up to it and do something about it! Just dont put people and yourself at risk.

Bloody good thing none of them seem to have a bad trip, stoned Royal with a weapon having a psychotic episode would not be fun!"

That was posted by someone a while ago...watch and see how diorientated they are!

Would you want to serve with someone like that?

as a SNCO I can assure you that if I saw you and thought you were under the influence of ANY illegal substance I would not hessitate in having you tested. You are on duty 24/7/365 and can be called on to carry out any task you should reasonably be expected to carry out as part of your duty at any time. Ths includes fighting a fire in a building in which your comrades are sleeping. Knowing the 'unknown' reactions to drugs, you might just stand there and watch, become a hero and risk your ass or just wonder off. You would be an unknown and unreliable quantity and therefore useless.
The effects of the 'odd pill' is still unknown, LSD was an unknown and tested and banned. The odd pill as you put it is still an unknown. I know guys who did LSD or Mushrooms in the 70s and STILL get flashbacks to this day.
There is no such thing as 'recreational drugs' in the armed forces. If I were your Sergeant Major I'd make sure you got tested every time... I've just had a test and know I'm cleaner than a Nuns conscience!
Please, don't join up...
100% behind this as it says on the article on this site

Hanging out with druggies is not for me and however clever he might think he is the signs will show.....

Personally I blame the attitudes from the 60's but that is another debate!

On the CWC at Porton Down, we were shown a similar video of an American sqad that had been given LSD as an experiment, one half given the drug, the other half nothing. I was quite funny to watch, but would you like be serving along side them, I don't think so.

Thought this might be the right place to post this, but was just wondering if it would be best to say that you had once taken taken drugs when asked. I wouldnt want to say that i had had the odd spliff or two a good few years ago if it hindered my chances of joining up, but on the other hand would it be best to admit this as they know that most people had experimented at some point in their lives. Just wondering if they would hold this against you even if it was a while ago.

when i went for my interview, i told AFCO that i had once smoked cannabis before when i was about 14yrs old and never smoked the stuff again after that. my interviewer understood that i had only experimented with the stuff once and it had no affect on my application.

So if i was you just say the truth and you should be fine.

Old skool, you posted the original question and you got the reply it so richly deserved. Did you expect to get only one answer? Unfortunately this is the world wide web and many people on here are speaking from experience so i respectfully suggest that you take in any advice given. Nobody is jumping down your throat they are just trying to let you know the downfalls. Take it on the chin and most of all take notice.

nobody has answered my other question yet-hasnt any of you experimented with drugs before you entered the marines?be honest.

i expected something like the response i got but the abuse is not deserved i was asking an honest question because i honestly didnt know if it went on in the corp with all the heavy drinking and all.ive already said fair enough know that i know i'll stop-but still the abuse?

wholley-i dont have a history of drug abuse ive merely experimented for a few months thats all:probably like alot of marines did, and as for a waste of space well you dont even know me and are you really that arrogant?
