Yes, there's is a big crack down on TV licences now days. But you still just stick em in your locker on inspection days.

Im sure though if the TV detector van did ever turn up, the lad on the gate will hold it up for as long as possible. Checking ID boot and bonnet search intil word is passed round the camp to hide your telly's.

As for the original question of course you can have laptops, you can have virtually anything you want in your room. And i've never known anyone to have there software checked. Your bed space or room if your lucky or a senior rank is your personnel space. Its the only one your going to get.

Best thing to do with the TV's is to have a PS2 or XBox wired up to it, then stash the ariel somewhere and claim that the tv is only being used for the games. 8)

That's not a valid excuse however. The law is: if it is capable of receiving a signal then it must be licenced.
