Wouldn't you be doing the Commando tests in July if you started in November? 31 weeks + 4 weeks for Christmas and Easter comes to 8 months. Just in time for dehydration galore..

hope your injury gets better mate. I take its been nearly 1 year since your PRMC. If you do have to do it again at least you’ll be able to say whether it’s got easier or if its still just as tough as in the old days.

To be honest it wouldnt really matter if the PRMC has been made easier, it would just mean more people would get binned in training. After all the commado tests have remained he same therefore the PTI's will have to keep training the same to get recruits ready for them.

Just got a call from my AFCO. Medical next Monday (as my previous one expired). Bugger! My original hip injury has cleared now, just the other side is aching. Here's hoping it clears up!
Then after that....REALLY gotta crack on with training.....I got about 4 weeks to get fit and I aint even running yet!
Worried? Hell yeah!!

July for the tests sounds good - at least you should have a dry or at least warm final ex which is probably more important. A lot of stress seems to be put on the tests here - the tests are no big deal and even perce and matelots can crack them after a few weeks training. The big difference is the day to day grind at CTC and you do the tests whether or not you've slept well the night before or been able to get some scran that morning. For example, I did the tarzan course separate from the rest of the troop (had been in sickbay with septicaemia) and was beasted for about half an hour (crawling through stingy nettles - the usual stuff) before doing the test, completely chinstrapped. Not dripping by the way - that's the way it was and you put up with it - it is the Commando Training Centre after all.
We probably did the same or very similar tests to the men who went to Achnacarry but I bet a pound to a pinch of s**t that their training was 'tougher' in many if not all respects.

I've got to re-do a medical as well, I've had to delay application due to orthotics.
Slightly worried but am going to take a note from my podiatrist (who's ex Army) to verify my legs are capable.

No you don't Dalo!
The water levels a heck of a lot higher and bleeding freezing in the winter. I have seen guys go "GLOP" and Panic when their feet don't touch the bottom!
As to the stage you will be at if you join in November.....................Don't be so bloody SAD! It's hard at any time of the year. Just remember that your going to be freezing your knackers off on the Commen and Dartmoor whilst still learning the basics during Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb so all in all it's a bit academic as to when it is the best time to join the Corp.

Too right Artist. Plus if (I really hope not) we end up in hunter for a spell it could be anytime. I just wanna get my arse down there and crack on with training, rain or shine....we're gonna be beasted either way
Sandaz, good to see you're on the same one as me mate. I'll be the half fit one lagging at the back! lol
