big_al wrote:The Endurance Course at CTCRM is on Woodbury Common. Said place is for some reason contaminated with industrial chemicals. These chemicals cause nasty rashes in sensitive places, and seem to have a tendency to make people quite ill if they get into the bloodstream.
What? :o

The main cause of Woodbury Rash was I thought the Gorse Bushes. To this day a fair few blokes still sport the scars from the dreaded rash. Me included.

The only thing chemical in the Oggin on the endurance course is the gallons of Brut aftershave, Hi Karate, Foo Foo Powder and other stuff worn by thousands of Nods and trained ranks over the years whilst doing the bloody thing! :D

what you copied and pasted isnt "woodbury rash" as quoted. Woodbury rash is a skin reaction to the gorse on woodbury common.

Woodbury common is the highest land in the area between Exmouth and Exeter, so unless streams and rivers flow uphill in that part of the world I cant work out how effulent from industrial discharge can go from the industrial areas and towns up onto woodbury common.

What you quoted BigAl was a strain of Streptococci found at CTC possibly caught during a hospital stay by someone at CTC and spread within the camp, so I was told.

Woodbury Rash has been around for decades and more than 25 cases have been reported. I would say there are more than 25 cases of the rash a week from Nods and staff at CTC.

Ive treated woodbury rash and it is similar to that found in N.Carolina with the USMC who train amongst gorse.
