yee-yikes... this threads a no brainer.
im only interjecting (is that the right word?) to say this:
as i understand, initial (modern) police firearms training was carried out by the regiment but now is carried out by police instructors.

Yes but the SAS train them to HALO and land outside the tube to commence the chase.

DOC this is precisely why the SAS were not involved and I was. They are trained to HALO and land OUTSIDE the tube. I am trained to HALO and steer my handkerchief-sized canopy in through the front, over the ticket barriers ( I have a year long Oyster Card so don't have to pay) and land ON the threat.
Now just leave it cos I have said too much already.

Yep, he was a Brizilian electrician. Poor fella.
Surprise surprise, Liberty have stepped in and ordered an investigation. f@#k twats will probably try and put the policemen in prison next.
At the end of the day, an innnocent man died. But if he wasnt innocent, then dozens of innocents could have been dead. You cant say the policemen overreacted - 4 bombers are still on the run and will probably try again if they arent caught. This isnt one thing that you can make guidelines or laws for - it was simply a tragic misunderstanding. His family should be compensated for the loss, but no one should be made to take the blame.

I think we should have a whip round and send his folks a tshirt
"My son went to London and all he got me was 5 lumps of lead!"
He may not have been a bomber but he didnt pay for his ticket so double tap to the swede is what he deserved. (x 2.5)
Innocents are innocents wether its the 50+ on 7/7. the 80+ in Egypt or the 5000+ in NY. My heart spurts purple piss. Shame he died but Im behind the lads who had seconds to make a judgement call for our safety and not the tree huggers who have 10% facts and days of hindsight.
Id rather have the Plod who pulled the trigger back out the street doing his job than Bob Farking Geldof watching my six!
Sad thing is I bet Plod gets farking hung for it as is the way with our spineless farking ruperts and politicians who decide the fate of people they themselves ask to go out into harms way and make the calls they are to chicken shit to make.
Well done plod, you may have shot the wrong bod, but the w@#k who should have got it are faceless cowards (and that goes for the bombers aswell!)
I think the police are lovely........now about this speeding ticket

I am utterly appalled that this so-called "marksman" from SO19 decided to take the action he did! It shows a complete lack of professionalism!
At a range of aprox 18" this cowboy fired 05 x rounds from a G36K and failed drastically. Anybody who's trained properly will follow the 2+2 standard training policy and insert 2 to the head and 2 to the chest! This whole episode just reeks of sloppyness and amateurism! This officer should be disciplined and forced to resit his APWT!
The taxpayers of this country expect more for their money!!!!!!!!!!

It is beyond belief how astonishingly stupid this bloke actually was...
If I was an innocent dark gentleman challenged by armed police in a London Underground station the day after a failed suicide attack and two weeks after a successful one on the same network my IA drill wouldn't be to run like buggery onto the nearest tube train.
IMHO the guy should be up for a Darwin award.
Imagine the media outcry if the guy had been a suicide bomber and the police had challenged him but didn't shoot? The copper who shot him was following procedure and made the right call.

i think it was spetznaz under orders from the 'men in black' sent by Clinton (who is a member of the freemasons) in an effort to stop information leaking by Mulder about world alien infection.

I must admit that I thought the government had let the Hereford gun club out to play when I heard the initial reports, I suppose we will have to wait for the 37 books on the job to be published to find out "the truth"( note to Penguin: Order more maskers!).
Blairtheliar alluded to a one shot one kill type scenario, but remember Gib in '88 Mairead Farrell got two to the chest to drop her then six(if I remember correctly) to the head to make sure her brain couldn't even tell her limbs to twitch.
On reflection I imagine that the police have now got the mandate(and will) to carry out these type of ops(If they run they're NVA; if they don't run they're well trained NVA).
As soldier "I" wrote "It's better to be judged by twelve than carried by six".

When confronted with a suspected suicide bomber, the last thing you do is aim for the centre of mass. A body shot is out of the question as this has the potental of detonating any explosive material which may be concealed underneath, you therefore aim for a headshot.
I believe the fact they were using low velocity ammunition instead of the usual pedigree contributed to the five shots being fired. This would certainly make sense.
