because it is not their "prime" role.

and just to "keep up" Int Corps was deployed heavily on telic, in various areas etc etc

case proved that you were wrong. is the point I was trying to make.

(off topic I'd love to hear how you know what you're talking about)

Hmmm - Int Corps "was" deployed on Telic?

Oh dear I didn't know that. I thought they were still there, deployed in a counter intelligence and operational intelligence role - which according to their website are their "core disciplines"

Now I'm sure you'll forgive an old donkey walloper for confusing "core disciplines" with "primary roles".

Anything else to add, or are you off to qualify for MENSA just now?

qualify? I'm already qualified. I'm sorry if it has stooped to you using grammar as fuel for your argument.

Oh dear, I am so sorry. As an educated man however I tend to use big words and correct grammar.

Now back to me being wrong.

Perhaps you would be kind enough to point out to me the difference between "operational disciplines" and "primary roles"?

Oh, almost forgot. Congratulations on your MENSA membership. I'm only an ex-cavalryman so I obviously won't have your extensive knowledge on these intricate military subjects.

Which unit do you belong to, or have you left the forces?

it's not the differences between the terms Primary Roles and Operational Disciplines, it he difference between operational intelligence and counter intelligence, versus Interrogation and looking at captured stuff.

Ok - gloves off. Listen to me you little pillock, you and I are going to fall out pretty severely if you don't start to take on board what I tell you.

The war in Iraq is over - ok?

Int are there to gather info on insurgent groups and to prevent them operating - ok?

That means gathering information from interrogations and captured equipment.

Now if you think you know better than an experienced IS soldier who is qualified to work at Brigade level with all the other agencies in what was previously termed the IKTUGWEFA network then fine.

Methinks your troop sgt will have great fun with you should you ever join up however. Especially when you tell HIM that he is wrong.

Got it?

Well H_N, the crow reckons he knows more about Int than I, even before he joins up.

I told my mammy about it and she said I should tell you and you would sort the nasty boy out before he made me cry.

Looks like he's had enough for one day, no staying power these kids nowadays!
I just had a look at some of his posts and it wasn't that long ago he was asking Q's about Int Corp and the joining of!
Apparently now he's an expert!

I had a similar experience to this some years ago with the creature known to me as cretinus maximus when I foolishly investigated my local MSN chatroom.

I was babbling away merrily to a chap who was ACF and wanted to join up when he said he was suffering from a sore eye after being on ranges that day with an SMG. According to him his left eye was terribly sore because of all the empties hitting him there when he was firing.

Unaware of how these petulant youths react to the truth I pointed out in an open chat room (after double checking that he wasn't left handed) that this couldn't be the case because the SMG ejected its empties to the right and they would have (at worst) simply gone over his shoulder but would have been more likely to drop at his feet.

I certainly discovered some new names for myself that day :P

quite frankly. f@#k off, is all I have to say. When did I ever say the war in Iraq was ongoing?
I think you're reading more into something there than you should.
Gathering inf from people is not the corps primary role, maybe humint's primary role, but not the corps.

Int are there to gather info on insurgents, but it is not the corps primary role. Again, as I have said.
Specifics are a c@#t.

Rocko - you are a pillock wannabe. Get some time in then get back to me.

If you refuse to heed lessons from experienced soldiers though, you will not get past week six.

You asked earlier how I knew for sure. Because I have pals out there with Int - simple as that. Their "primary role" on Telic is to interrogate and gather info - which was what the thread was about.

If the poster who asked the question had phrased it:

"What are the main disciplines of the intelligence corps" then my answer would have been different.

Perhaps you should reconsider your proposed application. Int does require a certain level of intelligence and from where I'm standing, if your brains were semtex and I detonated your head - it wouldn't disturb your centre parting.

who says I wannabe in the int corps?
week six? sounds scary.

personally I see roles and disciplines as the same thing, near enough. Although from looking and actually reading the thread I can see the way the question was phrased, and give in haha.
