Don't worry about any of the phys on RSC bro, a guy who was going for Household Cav didn't get a single heave, and he got in. The only guys who didn't pass were the ones who beaked off at the staff or were shit on the team tasks, and most of them were 15/16 years olds so it is understandable. If you're going Signals you'll have a Math test at RSC, most of the guys who did it found it tough, but I think only about 2 out of the 15 who took it failed it.

Do you only do the Maths test if signals is your first preference??

You do it if your going in a techy corp. Sigs, engineers, REME, ETC

You will have to do the maths test if it is needed for any of your 3 job choices. I needed to do it for my 3rd job choice if i couldn't get my 1st choice and still had to do it.

There are 55 questions with 5 choices of an answer for each question. So you could guess some of the ones you don't know and have a 1 in 5 chance of getting it correct.

I think the pass rate for most jobs is 21/55.

I personally found the test quite simple and got 37/55 correct.

They supply you with a calculator to do the test and i got 37 with a broken calculator so it wasn't that bad, although some people did fail this who weren't good at maths.

I would suggest just a bit of revision on maths for the test, and a bit on equations because they were the hardest sort on the paper.

You have 45 minutes for the test and i finished about 2 minutes before the end.

I failed to get get a high enough score for ammo tech by one question, and i think that job has the highest score needed.

I got 29 right 4 years after leaving school and not doing any maths

gazza you must have been pretty gutted, because like you say the tst score is 30 for ammo tech, i got 36 and hadnt done maths for 4 years, i was in the same boat but luckily i like physics and as it has a lot of maths in it, i scrapped through.
Im glad im going ammo tech, as i spoke to a l/cpl not long ago who had been to uni got his degree and hated his job so thought he'd join up. apparently he enjoyed his time in phase 2 and hes got his promotion to cpl coming up soon when he goes on his class 1 course and hes only been in for just under two years, so the promotion rate is cracking and of course you get paid on a high pay scale for your rank. Anyway good luck to people on your RSC its easy just relax.

What sort of things do I want to be looking at revising, for the maths test? I'm quite strong on addition & subtraction...LOL, nah seriously though - most things are quite easy, it's just equations, algebra, trigonometry, Pythagorus' Theorum etc etc.

Just some sort of general list would be appreciated.

Practice equations bud, there were loads of questions on equations.

Like x + 2x = 2x + y.

Then it gives you what x or y represents and asks you to work out the other 1. You get a choice of 5 possible answers though so its not too bad.

These are the general types of questions that i had for your help -

adding money
subtracting money
decimal points
ratio's
conversion (like 2 bags contaning 46grams, how many bags would be needed if each bag only contained 12grams etc...
area of triangles
equations

fractions learn how to + - x / with them or do what i did and turn them into decimals i found it easier. its multi choice so at least eliminate the ones that are obviously wrong then at least you can take a good guess at the remaining 2 or 3, dont worry if youve just done GCSE maths youll be fine.

Oh most of those topics are relatively simple, equations are the biggy for me though..I can do letters alone, I can do numbers alone...but letters and numbers, hell no! There's no point... (I'm probably being naive).

Yeah I had to re-sit my GCSE in maths, I wanted the gain the C...tried for f**king ages! Worth it eventually though.
